Did you see the BBC4 performance of the Vivaldi Gloria earlier this week, filmed in Venice?

I've never sung it all the way through! I've learnt the alto solos though - sang "Qui sedes" as part of my music A-level...

We did one of those Tattycath when we lived in Scotland, practice in the morning, quick go with the soloists and then the full blown thing. It was great........They do a come and sing the Messiah in Leicester......as well as the one the Phil does each year at Christmas. The chorus master is Brian, thingy, (can't remember his surname) from the King Singers..........

OH just pulled the plug on me, shut the broadband off, think its time for bed..............I am having a hot toddy, to loosen up my vocal cords, anyone else want one?????

    Night night.

(I'm taking Shez to see Madam Butterfly in a couple of weeks ;))

That was my mother's favourite opera, bless her:D She wore out her records of it, they were played so often:rotfl: , old 78rpm style. She always said it was her favourite because it was the first she ever saw, so really *imprinted* on her. She took me to see it when I was just 9 years old.

:hello::hello: haribo junkie. lol!!! I miss singing in choirs when I think about it. All the christmas descants and all the songs at easter were really high too. Hopefully with a bit of practice i should be able to sing better now I don't smoke. (2 months on 2nd next month) I always wanted voice coaching, couldn't afford it, it was £8 for half an hor about 8 years ago-I only had 1 lesson, he wanted 6 months pay up front!!! (nearly £200!!!) I was a single parent and a mature student at the time and couldn't justify-or afford that kind of outlay for myself. I have always vowed that when I can afford it I shall have voice coaching, it was my ambition as a child to be a professional singer. perchance to dream and all that jazz!!

That's true for most people, especially amateurs, however funnily enough a friend of mine - who has sung loads of principal tenor roles with English National Opera, Scottish Opera etc - smokes like a chimney and has the most fabulous voice. Life just isn't fair!
