Do the immersion and heat pump share the same hot water tank? So if i u was to heat the tank with the immersion then this should take part load off of it?
Hi Richard, that's what I have done now. Turned the immersion on - which is in the same tank as the heat pump water flows through. See if that works! If I am going to run ancillary heating anyway, then guess this is as good a way of doing it.
It's well below freezing here again now, having not gone above freezing all day! Brrrr!
The unit did kick in by the way, even though it was "turned off" so it must have a sensor that tells it to run if there is a risk of the water in the system freezing.0 -

I know someone in the US who has ducted for air con and in winter when they use the heating the system does not heat well as the grilles dont push the heat down so it stays at ceiling level.
I have a place in the USA with ducted aircon/heating.
Like every other place I have seen, I have reversible ceiling fans. With Aircon; the fan blows up to ceiling. In winter flick a switch and the fan blows down; that is the whole purpose of the fans.
Perhaps you should tell your friend?0 -

Yes that is what it will have, the compressor heater which uses about 15watts to keep the compressor warm.If you found my post helpful, please remember to press the THANKS button! --->0 -

I would tell them as I have ceiling fans in my house also before I got the air con, however they dont have ceiling fans.
I thought u was supposed to have them blowing down in summer and up at the ceiling in winter otherwise you get drafts. If you found my post helpful, please remember to press the THANKS button! --->0 -
-12 outside, 22 degrees inside. How impressive is that? This house does not even have cavity wall insulation.
Daikin and Ecoair for the win!
Oh and our cheap B&Q unit in the back bedroom died at less than -3. Thinking of trying to take that back - it's beyond bad.0 -
When you say it died, what did it do, just turn itself off or just blow cold air?
Very impressive, were at -6 here and im at 22-23C in my lounge, my bedroom unit is turned off at the mo until I go to bed.
Is the 22C the set point you set? What is the temperature blowing out the unit?If you found my post helpful, please remember to press the THANKS button! --->0 -

-8C last night and the pump is still working - with help from the 3KW immersion heater. Temps are all at normal and immersion is cycling on & off (I can tell because the lights dim when it comes on!) - so not running flat out. Looks like this was a better solution that start running ancillary heating around the place.0
