So learn not to take too much luggage!

I can go away for ten nights with hand luggage only, including dressing for two different climates ... it really isn't that difficult!

Can anybody actually qualify why they dislike Ryanair?

Increasingly people want to have their cake and eat it. Except, they want to purchase the cake from Lidls just before it's BBE date, and expect a freshly made one from Harrods.

Same culture that thinks banks etc are 'evil' simply because they dare to make profit.
  • Congratulations on being a light packer... However I defy you to go on holiday for even a weekend only with a child and take hand luggage only.... Fine if you're single/a couple and a light packer (we always managed to take hand luggage only before we had our son) Kids change things and force you to check in at the airport and then pay for the privilige. Reason enough to dislike Ryanair? Me thinks so....

So you dislike Ryanair because they charge you £14 per person for airport check in and luggage? Is that it? Irrespective of the fact that the difference in fare between Ryanair and an inclusive airline is probably a lot more than £14?!!!

_Andy_'s analogy is spot on. Next thing, people will be complaining that their free flight actually cost them 1p!

£14 - see how far that gets you in car or train!! i think we just loathe the extras. if it was just one cheap £14 all inc price, we wouldnt moan.
  • I realize their prices are low and I pay the £14 - I still fly with Ryanir. I'm complaining about Ryanair saying that everyone should use hand luggage only etc etc when as I've explained its physically impossible to go on holiday with children and do that! I thought about dismantling our pram to see if it would fit in my backpack but my wife suggested it might not work :D so I gave up on the idea...........

Spot on, any airfare under £50 return is an absolute bargain IMHO.
    Look at the whole picture.

  • If Ryanair would be more truthful then I would be happy.

Why say they are incressing the charge to cut queues when this is a complete lie.

If they were genuinely wanting to cut the queues then they would allow you to online check-in for your return flight at the same time as your outward flight as do Easyjet

The fact is that if you are away for more than 48hours then you can only online check-in for your return flight if you have web access and a printer at your destination

Ryanair know that in most cases this is unlikely - so they can sting you for the check-in fee at the airport.
  • I'm not sure if Ryan air are trying to alienate female passengers, of course I'm only speaking for my gf here, but the last time I flew with Ryan air was for a three day visit to London, and my gf had to take a suitcase. Myself I was fine for three days with carry on luggage but I can tell you there was no way my other half was going to get all her clothes, bit and bobs on carry on luggage.

I fly regularly on business, a large number of my flights are to London. My local airport has Ryanair flights to Stansted but they are not always the cheapest. BA, BMI & Easyjet are regularly cheaper than Ryanair.

The list of reasons for not liking Ryanair is long ..... mainly I work in the travel industry and have had so many problems with them that I will now only use them as a last resort!

Yes all the budget airlines charge for checking in luggage etc these days but Ryanair's charges for this and checking in are more expensive. Their baggage allowance is less than Easyjet's. Ryanair are fine if everything goes according to plan but if it doesn't then basically they don't give a stuff and regularly leave their passengers high and dry.

Their customer service does leave a lot to be desired
