  • Teccie stuff-can you help me sort out my problem? When i want to quote a post the page freezes and takes ages to load up and post reply back-sometimes quick sometimes not. I have checked for spyware etc. i am with talktalk and they have been having some technical issues, but was wondering if there was anything else i can do?

Hiya bob! Mmmmm....What speed broadband are you on? I find that at certain times of the day, the bandwith is less and the pages take forever to post a reply, can't work out if it is my machine or the MSE servers :D I only really get the problem in the evenings...the page freezing is a bit odd...do you get this on all websites when it happens or is it just on MSE? Also, what browser do you use? Do you use Internet Explorer? And do you have lots of webpages open all at once or just one or two? Do you find that the whole computer freezes up or is it just the internet? I can ask some peeps at work and see if they have any idea? Bit of a strange one...

Talking of computers...I was fuming earlier as the internet went pear shaped and it took me ages to fix it! Nowt worse than when the internet just decides to stop working.....Grrrrrrrrrr! Finally ok now though as had to do a system restore to an earlier time and day....was running out of ideas as none of the 'usual' worked! I dunno where I would be without my computer!

What a stressy day.....I soooooo need to chill out! Bad enough having to go into work yesterday...then forgot about darn clock changes till the last minute and was shattered when I woke up today! Bro came over to fix the shower and the thing isn't quite right.... :( Thought wouldn't be able to get it to work at all as thing would not switch off properly...thing is got it on ebay and would be hard to do much with it after it had been installed :( and cut to size...should have really got one from a shop I suppose...it is semi working in that when I get out of the shower, I can switch it off on the actual shower, need to turned off the water at the pipe next to the shower, so the water stops getting through. Shouldn't do any damage, just more faff! Dad came over too...he can't believe what a dump I am living in...neither can I really! House isn't really dirty, just stuff everywhere with no storage and stuff is falling to pieces...I have been here for 6 years now, so should be semi normal but isn't...
Have done a bit of bugetting and am hoping if I can keep food shop to a bare minimum this month and not spend money unless I really have to, I can pay off that dam barclaycard for the end of April, especially as will get time and a half for the hours I did yesterday, so the money from that will help! Will be a VERY tight month...but will be worth it if I can get that dam card paid up! xxx

  • Hi donner, it is 8mb speed and i am windows xp, with the internet explorer 7. I have tried a few things today to try and iron out kinks as it were. Ultimately i think it is a problem with the modem. I have another one and will try that. it was working well a few weeks ago, and talk talk seem to be having a few probs at the moment so it could be that.
Good news on budget front, hopefully it will be out of the way soon.
Is the house a council one or private landlord? Either way if stuff is falling apart they should really fix it. It will get better, just hang on in there for a while. bobx

8mb! Blimin heck! That is fast! I have 2mb and one day, when I have the money all sorted, I would love to get the top speed! Good luck with the modem, let me know how it goes!
It is a council house and they won't do anything about the shower as it has been added in by previous tennants so they won't fix it...this house needs to be condemed...soooo badly needs work doing to it but the council don't care. My dad said that I should contact my local MP and see if they can help? May give that a go! I know that one day this debt malarky will be over and I can have a place that me and Emily can call our home. It will just be a long way off. It's very frustrating as I work my butt off and am bringing Emily up single handed and I just want to have a nice life for us...really hate myself for being in this mess but at least I am still relatively young...28 but somedays feel double that! So we are talking early to mid thirties before it is sorted. I really should do one of those snowball things to get a debt free date but is hard when things just crop up all the time! Right, I have to blend my home made soup as have made enough for lunch every day this week! Then test the shower out so know it is ok for the morning and also fill in a questionnaire electronically as I have my answers on the paper form and Email it off. When I was at work a few weeks ago, I saw a message from a researcher Doctor type person who wanted volunteers to complete questionnaires about food and their feelings etc and for completing them all they will give you £10! I was selected so have this one and one other to do in a month and then a tenner is on its way to me! Not bad for answering a few questions! Take care xxx

Ha ha! :j Heya tigtag! I have just finished reading your new diary thread! Thanks for that...it is such hard work sometimes isn't it? Hate the way it is so quick to get into debt but is gonna take so long to pay it all off again. But at least I am heading in the right direction I suppose! Good luck with your diet on Tuesday! I am gonna start again tomorrow...god I say that way too often! Have put on rather a lot of weight though recently :( not to mention the fact I have eaten a whole box of fondant french fancy things and am still hunting for food! Need to sort it out as want to be slimmer to help with my running...gets me faster as less weight to cart about! Hope you are ok! xxx

Its all about willpower isnt it ~ however, we dont have much. We just have to look at it from a (his) health point of view and hope that spurs us on.
