  • Evening or should i say morning! I have just finished my challenge for the month and came in £50 under, I went shopping today to fill freezer and still only spent 23, I do most meals as sw ones so i know it can be done. So this months total unless i buy something else will be £153, for 4 of us including a birthday meal and eating out. I also have various friends over and they appreciate the home baking. That said i am not working full time, so my needs are different to yours. We eat plenty of fresh fruit and veg and i don't believe in buying anything special in for diets . I have a juicer as well- pains to clean, i like doing smoothies in the blender- nat yog and fruit of choice, like raspberries and bananas, very yummy and easy to wash. Forgot to ask how training going on, i'm very impressed by anyone who can run further than the bus stop!
Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:

That is AMAZING! Well done! That has made me very determined that I can do it now of you are feeding a family of 4! It is usually just me and Emily and some nights my boyf comes over and we will all have tea together. I try and eat lots of fruit and veg too, just wish Emily liked the same veg as me. She doesn't like the juicer but I love it! Training has all been going pear shaped  Didn't run on Sunday as felt poorly but did a 4 miler on Tuesday and gonna do a 5 miler today and then 11 miler on Sunday morning. I should have been running 3 times a week but have only been running 1 or 2 times a week for the last month or two. I know I am gonna get a pretty bad time now as have got a bit unfit and was gonna give the race a miss but the thought of wasting the £30 race fee is enough to make me give it a go. I will never book a race close to Spring again...saying that, won't be booking many now I am trying to save the pennies!

Thanks- i altered my sig because i had to buy a couple of bits and bobs today but i reckon that will be about it. Its the first time i've done the challenge and am aiming for less next month as i want to clear my small amount on a credit card. some folk have been posting their daily menu lists and one girl does it for £100 per month and no-one starves:cool: I used to spend £400 a month and reckoned that was cheap and before then upwards of over £600 because we ate out a lot, got a lot of takeaways etc. Eh well at least your burning up the cals on the road, i managed to lose 2 pounds this week- dont know how but have done a lot of walking when not mseing.:D

HUGE well done on your weight loss  That is fab news! Challenge wise I think I will keep a spending diary over the next month until payday and look at what I am buying foodwise. Today was the first day as was a NSD! :T £100 a month is truly amazing isn't it. Me and Emily used to have soooo many take aways at one point I think we had a couple a week! But so far this year we have only had one...and my god it was lush! :D Did another run today, just over 5 miles. Seems pretty pointless really as the half marathon is only 2 1/2 weeks away so probably not having much effect but is better than none at all I imagine! This Sunday will be my last long run before the race as have to started tapering off and calming it down. I just want to finish it! I have been getting the Runners World magazine every month so think I will cancel it. Only £7.50 every 3 months but don't really see the point as I can read about running online for free! And I have nearly a years worth of issues so there cannot be much more for them to talk about! So glad it is Friday tomorrow...yay! :T

  • I'm very impressed with the running, i just had a thought re mags. My dd loves mags of any kind so i signed up for some offers via quidco, as you get a lot of pleasure from them it may be worth taking a look, but as you rightly say what else can they talk about. I am thinking of training for a sponsered walk - for diabetes uk, one of the long ones from lands end to john o groats or the other way round. I don't know how to go about it though, and it will be a tough personal challenge, but one i want to plan for.
I expect you will breeze through the half marathon as there will be a crowd and it seems hard going at first.

  • Hi Donner

re the running magazines, if you do decide you want to continue receiving them and you get tesco clubcard points then they do subscriptions for running magazines for clubcard deals.

That would be amazing...and I imagine will give a HUGE sense of acheivement! :T Deffo would need a lot of planning but would be soooo worth it and for a brill cause too!

Going to go out for my last long run tomorrow as need to start cutting back (not like I really got going though :D ) so hope the weather is ok! The one thing keeping me motivated is the fact that I paid £30 for the ticket so have to do it on principle!

Had another NSD yesterday and am hoping for one today too if I can. Hoping to get the money for the camcorder today too so can put it towards the card later on...that will be great!

Going to spend the day cleaning up the messy dump! Hopefully my boyf will be back in Bristol tomorrow night but he may leave it till Monday? Can't wait to give him a huge hug as I have missed him like mad!

Ha ha! Cornwall withdrawl! I have never been to Cornwall, always wanted to go though. There are soooo many places that I want to go and visit and I can't wait till a few years down the line when me and Emily can just go wherever we want when we want! Will be so lovely to be able to do that and not have to not venture out for fear of how much it will cost.

Well I have got most of downstairs semi clean, am gonna have a little rest and then start on upstairs. When blokie gets back I will be able to get my camera back as I lent it to him for his holiday and then I can get some bits on Ebay again. Would be great if I could make another £50 this month. :) Will give it my best shot!
