Hello all! I am a bit late going into work this morning as the Council are trying to sort out my boiler / hot water central heating malarky...hate having to be late for work, especially as I was meant to have my review with the boss at 9am! Oh well, these things cannot be helped. Had a good day yesterday, dod my 12 mile run, hot the wall at 9 miles and the strong winds did not help but at least I know now that is the last long run until the race! Phew! Went to the shops to get some more foodies for lunches etc and was really pleased with Emily as usually we would get the bus as it is a bit of a way away, but we walked and was nice to get some fresh air and have a chat along the way! We made some flapjacks when we got home and she has taken some in her packed lunch for school! Next weekend we are gonna try chocolate mud cake! Mmmmmmm! Boyf got back from his hols so was great to see him too! I missed him soooo much! He is away all of next week though so won't have him here for long :( He has brought me loads of lush Swiss chocolate! I am gonna save it till after my run if I can...will be my treat for finishing! I have done mega well eating properly last week and lost an amazing 5 1/2 pounds! I know that any weight loss now will be a slow process as can always loose a lot in the first week or so. Will hopefully help with the running as will make me a little quicker?!?! Not so much weight to cart about!

Trying to work out what to do about the food budget! As I have absolutely NO IDEA how much I waste on food, I thought that I would set aside £200 for the month until the next payday so this works out at £50 per week to cover everything. Have only spent £13.16 so far and the money runs from Wednesdays. Trying to decide whether I should take what is left over each week (if anything) and pay it towards the Barclaycard straight away? That way I would see the balance coming down each week if I can, then that will hopefully be motivation to keep on at the card! Or could leave it till the end of the month and pay the leftovers off in one go and will also have a few quid just in case I need to go over the £50...if you see what I mean! As it will be a monthly spend rather than weekly. I think it will be more motivating to pay some off each week if I can, just don't want to be caught short if something came up. Not that I know of anything within March...mmmmm will have a think!

Ooh well done on the weight loss:T Whatever you are doing is working. I think it is a good idea to put money aside for food and then you know where you are with it.Just have a go at making a rough menu planner and then you can have a basis to work from. I started making a list of what i had in frifge and freezer then i know what to buy to add to this for meals. It's not easy though and will need refining as you go. I also try and bake extra for freezer, but have greedy folk in the house and it never gets done.
I am also having various bits of work done on house, so hopefully will be watertight in a bit:mad: as can't shut front porch door at mo, because swollen and split and now raining in. We are also getting over water flooded kitchen, costing a fortune to put right even though insurance covering a lot, we have to replace back door as well and needs new frame, and under sink cupboard. i do a lot of stuff myself but hubby is absolutely useless at DIY, so i made him get a joiner in this time.
Off in a bit to finish off the Christening cake and then can relax.

Hello! Am shattered out tonight so will be a short update! I have done a semi meal plan for this week and should take us to the weekend thank goodness! So will only hopefully be topping up with milk and bread if possible! It is soooo good planning the meals as it means I only have to have what is needed, rather than popping out and spending a fortune!
I feel like such a pig as have eaten 2 bits of flap jack! They were meant to be for mothers day but only ate 1 piece at the time! Feel mega guilty now as should not have had it after being sooooo good, but at least I managed to stop at 2 bits!
Hope you managed to become watertight bob! Especially with the rain and hailstones earlier...if you had them! We did!
Emily is off on her school trip tomorrow and has brought home a letter today about having £5 spending money. Was gutted as hadn't planned for that! Oh well! May have to start having a little emergency fund for things such as this!
Better go now as am falling asleep as I type! Take care all xxx

  • No not watertight yet, but not as wet. Yes we had hailstones and snow-brrrrrr. Have you tried the hobnob recipe yet? You won't stop at two!!
Hope Emily has a lovely day tomorrow. When i took classes on school trips i only ever suggested an amount, as shops usually have a good range of pocket money items for about £1.50 or less.
Had a lovely mothers day yesterday, was utterly spoilt by my children with perfume and book vouchers-my one weakness.
    bye for now x

Hello everyone! Sorry wasn't about yesterday but I was shattered out! Fell asleep on the sofa and didn't wake up till the early hours of the morning! Felt horrendous when I woke up...and took me ages to get back to sleep as all I kept thinking was that I had to get up for work soon! Rubbish! Just a quick update tonight as am gonna have a bath and get ready for bed...dunno what is up with me at the mo but not feeling 100%...I have found out that one of my WFTC overpayments has finished...I thought they would take the £20 a month I used to pay and put it towards the other one that I owe, but they haven't! So will take the £20 and pay it towards the Barclaycard! I have also got through week one of buying hardly any food as I have been trying to use up what I have at home this month to save £££. I might put that towards the Barclaycard too as I have a little put back for emergencies so should be ok should I need it! This would mean that I could pay an extra £30 towards the card, so along with the £20 that would be £50! Just means that I cannot spend any money this month other than food! I have to put a bit to one side though as it will soon be my boyf's birthday so need to get him a pressie! I can't wait till I get rid of that dam Barclaycard! Least I haven't been wasting any money! Dead chuffed there! My camera is back now too so must get some bits on ebay again! Deffo want to get some buts on there this weekend! Hope everyone is ok!

Yep, she had a fab day on thr trip...brought me a pressie...some sort of grow your own venus fly trap and some funny lizard in a egg which hatches in water thingy....very odd! But she seems happy none the less and that is what is important! Glad you had a fab mother's day! I did too...Emily was very well behaved, for a change! Nah, saying that I am very lucky! She is a great kid!
