  • I know i'm torn between the holiday and the debt.We could do the same later on in the year, but go in the tent. i enjoy camping but haven't been since she was diagnosed last year, we went in a caravan instead as felt she needed home comforts- not that we rough it in the tent either its quite posh with 3 rooms and facilities:D

Oopps! Just saw this at the bottom of the previous page! It is very hard to know what to do isn't it...part of you thinks that you should tackle the debt, the other half thinks well you have spent so long tackling it, you deserve a treat. Very hard :(
Wow that tent sounds fab! I want to do some camping this year...but need to pass this dam driving test really...or get boyf to drive us! Just a shame as DD gets a bit lonely and if she brings a mate but last time the mate spent all the time crying for her mum so we had to come home. Maybe we should have a big MSE get together camping trip...that would be cool!

  • Totally agree, i love camping its such fun. last time we have been to stratford it was absolutely great. Brummies so welcoming, and weather perfect. We went around loads of properties, and gardens which were free, saw a famous actor- cant remember his name now but he was cptain in star trek. And then saw simply red in concert at warwick castle- cool or what ( although he may not be to everyones taste) i had to laugh because ds was 16 at time and we sort of forced him to come, anyway we have him on camera phone video singing away.
i also noticed last time that a lot of folk took over the corner of the site and put together their tents and had quite a sing song- great fun and everyone stopped early enough for other campers.

  • As regards to dd being lonely- most kids play together and are so tired out at the end of the day they dont have time.

  • That sounds wicked! I have only really been camping twice (once with a group who wanted to do nowt but drink...which isn't me :( ) and the other time where DD came and her mate cried. I think it might be different if we went on our own and made friends when we were there. I tried to encourage the gorls to play with some other kids but they didn't want to...blimin hard work! When I was a kid I would yap to anyone...same now really! Usually she is very confident but I think that it may have been to do with her friend. Emily is off on an adventure week holiday in June with the school. She can't wait...and I can't wait to get the payments for the dam thing over with either! I have been splitting the cost and paying it off each month. Will be very odd as will be the longest time we have been apart! Just me and the cat then!

She may come back a lot more confident than before she went. I remember struggling topay for trips, but so worth it in the end. Why don't you plan something with bf whislt she is away ? a small camping trip just the 2 of you. i know about the drinking one, i have a friend who can down some, but she is not rowdy and we've been on campsite before where it has been too much. i like the hoseseasons ones. bit pricier but the stunning scenery and the peace and quiet make up for it- you come back a changed person.

  • Will have to look out for those, nice to have some scenery to look at and some quiet too! Nowt worse than having peeps who just want to drink! I don't get out much so prefer to do things, not go and spend all day in the pub and then go back and drink...not for me! Maybe I am just getting old!

I sadly drank at home at the weekend- it goes straight to my head as i don't drink a lot and then i post on some party thread:rolleyes: , but the folk on there are so funny:rotfl: anyway thats my excuse over with:D The sites are truely wonderful and you will enjoy them. I don't always go off the brochure price as a lot of them are privately run, so if you think that you want a break ring them up and see if they can do it cheaper, it worked for us last year and they were so accomodating and couldn't do enough.

  • Hello everyone! Have spent this evening trying to work out my incomings and outgoings for the month of March. Is looking ok so far as no Council Tax to pay for or water bill etc. I have just paid £20 to the Barclaycard as that would be the minimum payment on it and is I think the only card I don't have a DD set up for. So this takes the total down to £830. Sitting here working things out is making me think big styleeee. I really need to work on the food bill and get it down as low as possible. I may have to ditch the SW ideas and really go back to basics and try and eat as cheaply as possible, with Emily doing the same. I am gonna need to try and make the food stretch even more so am gonna check out the OS board after I have washed up the blimin' juicer! Takes ages...so much faff! I wonder how cheap me and Emily can eat for? Must make sure the food is nutritious too though as that is very important.
