    I ordered this..... thanks :j

I checked my last bill, it says that the caller display is free but I paid £4.46 + VAT for BT calling features Pack 1

    I'm easily confused!!

Caller Display is free but you must have other select services from BT that you pay for. You get 1 select service for £1.75, between 2 and 4 for £3.50 and 5 or more for £5.00. These services include call barring, call waiting, call diversion, ring back, reminder call, 1471 extra etc. It's worth checking with BT to see just what it is you are being charged for.

on the website its keeps mentioning that some calls must be made throught BT itself... how many calls exactly?? 1 call a quarter??? 10? If you dont make any calls they can charge you the cost of caller id. The website is very vague on this. As I am sure most of us here will be using the likes of call18866 etc..

I was wondering that. I only have BT for line rental and use Onetel to rediretc my calls and 1866 during the day. Is there anyway that this will work as I still have an old caller display which I assume with still work between a DECT phone to Caller display - socket.

Just realised my DECT phone supports caller ID. Ordered the service. Can anyone enlighten me as to how I can re-route calls from Onetel to BT, I assume there is a prefix if I use Onetel as a CPS carrier. Thanks to OP :)

To Hunnymonster - my number was given originally by NTL and ported back to BT.

    Thanks Art, I'll check that.

I hope this is not the case but I'll keep a check on my bill when it arrives.
I signed up for this yesterday by freephone no, 20 mins hanging on but hey! if it saves me money I don't mind.
The woman told me that I could only have Caller Display free if I signed up for TPS too, also free. Just reread the website and according to that you don't need to sign up for TPS but it's probably a good thing to have.
Must say it all seems a bit confused though.
    I'll catch up tomorrow!

Art you have got the wrong end of the stick. Caller display is completely free of charge, if you order BT Privacy at Home, and you dont have to have any other select service.
    See http://bt.com/btprivacy/

There is already a long thread at http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=65805 which discusses this ,and other issues about the service.

It would be useful if a mod could link the two!!!!

I am not saying you need other select services to get caller display free. What I meant was that if he was paying something to BT he must have other services that he had subscribed to.Sorry if it wasn't clear.
