What gets me about CL and the others like Interlink Express they claim that "the driver ran out of time". How can they do that, after all if in any other job you are behind in work the boss would want that done for that day, not the next day or the next. If the driver cant complete this then they should not be charging for next day delvery when they fully know that they wouldnt bother taking it to the address until a few days later.

well thats down to the companies and the workload the levy on the drivers really.
remember thwe drivers are bearing the brunt of what maybe cuts and shortstaffing by those in senior positions

They collected the parcel from Kent at 09.20 the next day, and I had it by 09.10 the following morning.

Needless to say I was amazed.

...and that will almost certainly have been DHL.

Parcel2Go are just a reseller of contract rates with DHL (and a few others, but nealry all of their parcels go via DHL).

  • Similar thing happened to me a few months ago with City Link.

Had arranged delivery for Friday morning...woke up ready for it...the van stops outside my house - driver gets out - opens the back - closes it - gets back in and drives off!!!
i was watching thru my window waiting fr him to ring the bell - obviously not!

online tracker said attempted delivery and carded!!!

had to wait till monday morning!!

No excuse for turning it around to be the recipient's fault though by recording a delivery point closed and carded.

i didnt say it was.however as ive posted before, i assume thats an automated response when the package is rescanned to the depot after being scanned as o delivery

I did specifically ask them about that kind of thing and they said that if the courier writes down that the delivery point is closed and carded they mean it. At a push they said it was only conceivable that it wasn't carded but that they write it down as such was if they had run out of cards. But as for delivery failure, it's not automatic they have to specifically choose that before they return to the depot. If I'm wrong about that then all I can say is that's what CL told me, I'd gotten to the point of asking those types of specific questions.

I was just about to complete my order on ebuyer but noticed Citylink as the supersaver carrier (lol, I typed "superscraper carrier" the first time )

I'm aware ebuyer are monitoring CL's service but I'm now not sure I'm going to order from ebuyer bearing in mind the above experiences; it's only a surge protector and a PC headset I'm after... going to find other retailers methinks...

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: (I get into everyone's mind eventually)

Personally it is going to affect my decisions to a degree but I'll leave most of my judgement on the retailer themselves. E.g. scan.co.uk are so far the best online retailer I've had experience of so I think I'll still use them even though they use CL. But any retailer that has poor CS or I'm not too familiar with them, their choice of courier is going to have a greater impact on my decision because I can't be sure things will be sorted out satisfactorily if CL goes wrong. Whereas with good retailers such as scan I have more confidence that they will sort things out no matter who the courier is.
