Unless it says free updates in the advert, you will have to pay for updates. The 300 is a great unit.
Many thanks, are there any "great units" with free updates???

i'm always up for a bit of hacking but if you've done all the hard work please share ...you can pm the links and any helpful tips ...also I'm guessing to do the tomtom workaround I'll need a spare SD (as backup should it go wrong as these things sometimes can no doubt)0 -
Hi there - is this still for sale? Esp. interested in European maps (pln on driving to Poland for our summer hols). I assume you have full and complete coverage of Eastern Europe? It's not just the major roads, is it?
If you're happy to give me your email address through the forum I'll talk to you directly....or is there a way for us to do this without everyone seeing your personal email? (.....I'm new to this!)
Cheers
Stevie
Yes this is still for sale, the last person to ask hasnt replied to me so its still up for grabs. I will send you a private message which you can check by clicking above.
Yeah its door-to-door in Eastern Europe and door-to-door in Western Europe

REDROLO, I hadnt noticed the 2.5% charge on there when I bought mine (still waiting for delivery) DOH. Mind you its still only a couple of quid and a good bargain as elsewhere the 200W is up to £50 more. As I said, Id have gone for the deal on there for the 300 but I need a bigger screen so went for the 200W.
Does anyone know if the USB cable to use for updates etc. is "in the box" with the Garmin units - cant see mention on the site.
ALSO, the Garmin 270 - my son is driving across the states in April. Is the 270 a good unit for him to buy anyone please?0 -

hi the 200w has got the USB interface for uploads. The 270 is part of the same 200 series as yours, but with the US maps loaded. The reviews I have googled all come back good.0 -
My wife used my farther in laws Garmin. I have a TomTom which is A1 - She went to Swindon from Halesowen and got there fine. On the way back it took over 3.5hrs and went 20 miles down country lanes. She phoned me to say how do you use this piece of junk as it taking us the wrong way. I asked the normal questions, have you put in the correct destination, is it upside down, remember you are a woman using a gadget!!!!!.
Turns out my farther in law hates driving on motorways and set it to avoid motorways. Hence they had a bit of a nightmare journey. I know this is nothing to do with the post nor does it pur a Garmin Sat NAV in bad light just makes me smile when I hear someone down the phone saying this is a right piece of S*!t and where the F am I?
She went to get some milk down the road in Birmingham 2 weeks ago, she hasn't returned - I set it t Birmingham, Alabama, US - Hope she has alot of petrol!!
