  • hi all i told you all i had a bought a cheap sat nav on ebay that did not work and seller not responding to mails, well i mailed him and said i had been on this site and was going to take things further as advised, he replied asked me to sent unit back and replaced with new one straight away. and it works brilliantly. thanks everyone.
  • I just got the Navigo Sat Nav today, and am having some problems already. Has anyone not been able to connect it to their PC and have the PC recognise it.

The "found new hardware" wizard shows it has been connected, but there is no way of accessing the device either under "My computer" or anywhere else.

Could anyone who has successfully connected it tell me where the icon for this device usually shows up?

I think you need to install Microsoft ActiveSync 4.5 on your PC to access your Navigo. You will probably get more help if you post in the Navigo thread though.
  • I found out what the problem was. I went into the menu and selected system info, then I changed the option under "usb" to "mass storage device".

What happens then is that when you connect the USB cable, the Navigo shows you an icon on the screen. This shows a PC onnection on the left, and a battery charging on the right. When you select the icon on the left the computer reognises the device as an F drive, and then the SD card is easily accessed.

I'm a bit concerned that the Turbodog software misread my position by about 400 metres last night, but I will try with Tomtom when I get that sorted and see what happens.

Bro-In-Law just bought a Tomtom 520 which has the software at version 7 something. Will this work on Navigo?

NO. Tomtom 7 only works on a Tomtom. Tomtom 5 and 6 will work.

I bought the Navigo - no delivery problems (luckily I was in when it arrived!). I too had problems, initially, with getting my pc to recognise it, but you need to change it to a mass storage device - it doesn't tell you that in the instructions anywhere, but I found it in the end. Will post instructions here next time I am downloading to it.
I have used it several times - seems to change routes very quickly if you deviate from the one chosen (posh way for for saying miss the turning!).
The voice is ok - there are others that are much more annoying!
All in all, I am pleased with it! I'll have to put it to test on a long journey!

With a satnav you need to decide which features you need?

Do you need bluetooth for hands free calling?
Do you need an FM transmitter to transmit the voice instructions to your car stereo?
Do you want to use it to play music/view picture?
Do you want to add/use traffic information?
    Standard screen size or widescreen?
Uk or Full European(western and or eastern europe) maps?
How much do you want to spend?

Basic satnav is the Tomtom ONE, or Garmin NUVI 200
High spec is a Tomtom 720, Garmin NUVI 660/710/760, Mio C520.
