  • I've just bought the NAVIGO and installed my TomTom 6 on it. Took quite a bit of research but it's on there and running fine!
  • As well as the £59.99 Navigo Unit, Ebuyer are also selling the Tomtom One Uk Mapping for £114.99, and the EU map version is only £129.99 - Both with free shipping !!

I've just had a look at Garmin Nuvi 200w and 300 and maybe the 300 is the option (not widescreen though).
Blonde question, do you have to pay for updates or are they free?????

  • I bought a Garmin Nuvi 250 from Maplins a fortnight ago. Am absolutely chuffed to bits with it :D:D . I "tested" it on places where I knew where I was going first. In the case of my own house it told me I had gone 5 ft too far at my front door. I reckon that it calculated to the centre of the frontage. Going to work it took me to a building site at the wrong end of the business park, and my brother's house is on the outskirts of a rural village where several cottages and farms have the same postcode and no street numbers. It took me to the general area and kept trying to recalculate. It can't find my eldest son's house at all, but I'm not surprised as the Post Office don't have it on their database either and it's been there fifteen years  .

My conclusion is that it is great to stop you getting lost and ending up going to the wrong junction on a main road or motorway. It doesn't mean you don't have to use a little commonsense when you reach the end of your journey and use the old-fashioned methods of a street map and/or asking a local :p .

It had no probelms getting me to Sandown Park for a fair last weekend. It took my daughter to an interview and even got her into the carpark. She now wants one of her own but being newly divorced I suspect I'll be losing mine from time to time. It doesn't allow for house/building names rather than numbers.

Well I got a good deal on a TomTom 720, but I ended up having a spare 520 as I had ordered that 1st and there was a huge delay on it.

Could take it back, but I was considering selling it. Its brand new, not even been used once. Its been upgraded to have not only the UK maps but Western Europe, USA and Canada, Eastern Europe and even New Zealand and Austrailia.

This gives it even more maps than the 920 version! I paid £180 for it and that was with just the UK maps and a free ipod cable. I will be keeping the ipod cable but instead have registered lots of V7 latest maps onto it.

So if anyone here is interested, I could let it go for £200? Compared to what the 720 and 920 sell for with less maps, thats pretty good. May as well offer it here before I go down the ebay/amazon route.

Hi there - is this still for sale? Esp. interested in European maps (pln on driving to Poland for our summer hols). I assume you have full and complete coverage of Eastern Europe? It's not just the major roads, is it?

If you're happy to give me your email address through the forum I'll talk to you directly....or is there a way for us to do this without everyone seeing your personal email? (.....I'm new to this!)

    Cheers

for 60 quid looks a steal ... are there any unbiased reviews out there other than ebuyers own?

I bought one for my wife for christmas, but have since replaced it with a TomTom. The reasons are two-fold: the voice got left and right mixed up twice (not a good sign) and the speaker is useless, distorting at the sort of volume that you need to hear it on the move. On top of that, there is no support for the unit (unless you can read Japanese) so updating maps etc is out of the question.

Can't praise TomTom highly enough - it works. Simple as.

Unless it says free updates in the advert, you will have to pay for updates. The 300 is a great unit.
