    I've been Money Tipped!
Hubby eventually went for a Garmin NUVI 300. Basic but does the job, he says it's great for post codes, but tries to send him not always the shortest route??? Maybe that's the quickest route for speed etc.?????
Maybe he has set it up wrong and needs tweaking????

With a satnav you need to decide which features you need?

Do you need bluetooth for hands free calling? Would like it
Do you need an FM transmitter to transmit the voice instructions to your car stereo? Don't know
Do you want to use it to play music/view picture? No/Yes
Do you want to add/use traffic information? Possibly
Standard screen size or widescreen? Don't mind as long as it is visible
Uk or Full European(western and or eastern europe) maps? Would like European
How much do you want to spend? As little as possible but as long as it does what is needed, I don't mind. Prefer £200 tops but would be willing to spend more

Basic satnav is the Tomtom ONE, or Garmin NUVI 200
High spec is a Tomtom 720, Garmin NUVI 660/710/760, Mio C520.

Is there any that you do not have to pay a subscription to? Would like one that you can enter postcodes on.

The best deal at the moment is the Tomtom 720 from Amazon using the link below. You get the Tomtom 720 and the traffic receiver for £207.29. This will fulfill all your requirements. At the moment the Tomtom 720 sells for about £200 on its own, so for an extra £7 its worth getting the traffic receiver as well. This offer may only last a day or so. The Tomtom 520(model down from the 720, the 520 comes with less memory and UK only maps) won the best buy award in the new March edition of 'Which' and that was priced at £195.

Click on the link above then go to the 'eu traffic' tab, then click on the 'amazon' link below the 720T, then add the 720 and traffic receiver to your basket, the discount will then show up, adjust the shipping as you require.

As I have never owned one of these before, how long is it until you have to replace them?

It should last a good few years but you may want to update the maps in a couple of years or so which will cost about £50. If you buy the Tomtom you can ensure you get the latest map by downloading it from them using their 'Home' software, this is used to update the satnav in various ways.

The latest Tomtom Europe map is version 715, the device will almost certainly come with v710 so you can update it to the latest one.

    Hi
I have bought the Navigo Sat Nav from WH Smith for £44.99 which was a bargain. However when I checked the contents there is supposed to be a touch pen in there but it is missing.

Now my question is, did anyone have the same problem and more importantly, do they use this pen? My old one I used a wheely thing to input the address so not sure if it is worth the hassle of sending it back to get the pen - which may get lost in about a week anyway!

I tend to use my fingertip rather than get the pen out
