Welcome Tigzem. :hello:
Managed to get a fair bit done today. Finally got round to washing the living room shutters and cleared my desk at the office on top of the usual stuff (long overdue)
Dough has just finished in the BM so I'm going to do some rolls for the morning and a small crusty loaf then having an early night as I'm wrecked.
Have a good evening everyone.0 -

Busy day today, had 2 LOs here - have spent the day crawling around the floor, and attempting to get in touch with Sure Start for any advice and help. Have had an email back, with a little advice, but not much help, but im not really surprised, it does seem like people who want to work dont get much help these days!! When i went to the job center a while back, they just didnt want to know!!
Just had a shower and hair wash, so going to try and relax tonight, i so need some sleep tonight, so hope i get some! might see if i can get the children to go to bed early (no chance!!) but they might go up and read for a bit, if im lucky.
Hope everyone has a good evening,
Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx0 -
Pooky - a friend of mine recently went to her step daughters only to be told she had ordered her wedding dress via ebay. She paid £70 in TOTAL. Now, there does pose the question about exploitation, because the person who made it was foreign, paid for the materials and made it up from my friends s/d's measurements and the price included postage too. BUT, the results (apparently) are fabulous! If you want more details, PM me and I'll contact K and see if I can get the original ebay details.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Evening all
JAYWARD sorry to hear you've been in hospital
TIGZEM welcome
POOKY my wedding dress cost £120 from Monsoon, it was red velvet devoree cut on the bias. Always said I would get married in a red dress:D . Have worn it since as an evening gown.
CATOWEN hope things look up for you soon.
HUGS to anyone I have missed who needs one.
Have had a bitty day, with lots of telephone calls and sorting out bits and pieces. managed to find a blueberry bush in Wilkinsons for £4:D . Will also try to get hold of some of the 99p one's on Friday in Lidl. Will put them in pots in erichaceous compost as our soil is alkaline.
Managed to partly dry washing on line. No luck finding out about the economy 7 but my neighbour who has the same provider says it is from 10.30 to 7. OH tends to pooh-pooh the idea of washing at night but changed his tune when I told him I had already knocked £6 off the direct debit a month.
Tea was bits and pieces that need using up. Off to do some knitting in a minute. Well done DLB on the smoking and TRU is your OH going through the male menopause? I know mine is:rotfl: :A xxxx0 -
When we had our house we had Econ 7, I used to set the timer so the washer came on so that it switched off just inside the time limit. So you need to time an average wash and then work back from around 7am. I did this just in case there was a problem with the machine.....I did have a machine flood in the middle of the night, came down to find water all over the kitchen floor, and the machine US.......it turned out a hose had been rubbing on the side of the cuboard and worn a hole........cost me a new machine................Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0

Hi all
Had hoped to catch up tonight but what with decorator etc and now having to dismantle fish tank, porch cupboards, kitchen, etc etc we are going to be at least 2 months in turmoil! I have written a special lift timetable. It costs just under £2 each time for the phone call but worth it.
Well, DGS1 5 tomorrow so going for the party tomorrow afternoon. Moil - your DGD I think celebrating 5 years too! What proud Grannies are we! We are taking over the ELC scary dungeon tomorrow. I am sure your DGD not into that one - but maybe she is!!
I am now getting emotional because I just love my three boys to bits (plus my dearest DS and DD and DH too). I find it difficult when birthdays etc come up being adopted - it makes me think of times gone by and other things!
Love GB xxxxxxxxxxxx0 -
Well I survived the night to tell the tale.
Ruby on further reflection I'm pretty sure it was the plums I went overboard on.
I'm going over to the mainland this morning with DH. I wasn't going to. I really have to boil and mash all these eggplant for the freezer. Hard choice
but *lunch* really swung me to tag along with him.
Annie Have a great night out? Is that a band? We all have highs and lows throughout our life.
Donny Some great matches hey.
stef There was no picture there. Could you re-post it again?
Well I better make tracks. DH is pacing downstairs. Hope you get some [STRIKE]sleep[/STRIKE] tonight CMand those others who are sleeping poorly. Byeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
We are moving house on Thursday so I've been packing up and cleaning each room as I do it. The house will be spick and span (even wiping down walls and skirtings). We got the keys to the new rented property today, and the place is filthy and full of junk!!! Am I the only mug who makes sure that any rental property I leave is clean? I seem to be because I always seem to have to clean a new place too. The oven is particularly minging. So I spent the day today cleaning out kitchen cupboards (and the fridge/freezer is filthy too and full of mould!) when I should have been here carrying on with sorting out our stuff. I need to have clean kitchen cupboards to put my food etc in.
Anyway at least my OS cleaning worked. Liquid soda crystals are brilliant (but our local Tesco has discontinued them. Typical.) The ammonia in the oven works a treat. Our oven here hasn't looked so clean for a long time (certainly not when we moved in). I was amazed at how the gunk just slid off. Thanks whoever posted that tip. :A I've left a cup of it in the oven at the new house. At least it smells better than the oven does (revolting smell of cooked meat).0 -
You rant away!!!
This house when we moved here was worse than the bottom of the bin at the old house.. it hadn't been cleaned in YEARS!!!! and I am not exaggerating.. the manky mare who lived here admitted it.. she lived in 3 rooms and even they were rank.
There were 3 carpets in one room which had black mould growing on them.. on of the rooms had been so full of junk (they all were) it had developed wet rot and the whole floor had to be replaced.. a room 16ft square!!!
The kitchen was the only room which looked ok.. and that was all superficial too.. the units had funghi on them!.. literally!!!
I could happily have drowned her in caustic soda the day we got the keys!!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Hi
Once I managed to get the rental company to pay for cleaning...it's worth a try .0
