Hi all
It's slightly calmer at work, no one collapsed & only one person is still in a strop, lol.
I had someone complaining to me at work about how broke they are & then in the same breath tell me they are going to south of France for 2 weeks & then to Italy for 2 weeks skiing, she then told me ordered something from Amazon as a gift for her Mum, she then phoned Amazon & said it didn't arrive so she didn't have to pay for it. Maybe it's just me but I was horrified.
Got home to find my crochet hooks had arrived, so I've already made some squares.
Have a good evening everyone
Hugs Hester

I told him how i was feeling. He made the point that if they were friends they would understand and if they weren't then what did it matter...After all, they still bring a sense of balance and make the genuine one's all the more valueable and appreciated
((hugs)) )
dlb - wow! You are doing brilliantly!! :T I'm so pleased your 2nd meeting went well - do keep up the good work! I do hope you are able to reward yourself with the savings you are making too - you deserve to be pampered and rewarded throughout this time. Good for you! :T :T
Had a change of plan over tea tonightI'd forgotten to freeze the left over roast potatoes from Sunday's dinner. So, I defrosted the remaining cold cuts, the remaining gravy, picked up some (reduced = half price) brocolli and made a mini roast dinner tonight instead. The lads are very happy and satiated :rotfl:
Welcome tigzem - hopefully the link PP gave you will get you off to a roaring (re) start with your SC

tattycath - if you would like to learn about quilting - do a search on GoogleI learned to quilt via a website forum and it's truly addictive! Even though I didn't (and still don't!) have anyone in my RL who quilts, who can show me the ropes, it's amazing how much you can learn from speaking with others on a webforum and researching stuff on the net! McCalls website is pretty good for both beginner and experienced quilters and have lots of project ideas and patterns. Now, some might find this quite sad
but, when the millenium (crikey is that really 8yrs ago??? ) struck, I was making my first ever quilted wallhanging (a teapot wallhanging by Debbie Mumm) and a short while after that, I had my dd on the phone (most upset, like they are at that age
) and was ironing appliques as I spoke with her
When my (then) dh came home from shift, he was gobsmacked to see how much I had accomplished ... in truth, so was *I* :rotfl: Hmm, hints and tips ... gather as much fabric as you can - it'll never be enough! Start off simply - say a 9 patch design - and build up from there. To begin with, the batting (middle sandwich layer) can be as simple as an old blanket from a charity shop and the backing can be as simple as a plain old sheet from the charity shop! That will keep costs down. I work mainly in 100% cottons and (yet again!) you can pick up many assorted items from charity shops and boot fairs that are cotton and can be cut to size to make up a quilt. Do you have a sewing machine? It's not essential, but there will come a point where it becomes indispensable!!!! We used to have a prolific poster who made the most amazing quilts, but, sadly, she doesn't post as much now. Look in your local library for local quilting groups too - we don't have any my way that meet at times I can manage; but if time isn't an issue or constraint, that might be a way to go

Hi everyone
I will get back later to catch up with you all. Another busy day in GB land. Chicken curry almost ready and decorator due to arrive to give estimates for kitchen stripping etc about 7.30.
Well kitchen is now well and truly planned but have some queries about cooker/microwave. If anyone has time to read and comment on the thread I have just posted on the In My Home board I would really appreciate it. It stems from the fact our current microwave is a dinosaur of all of 20 years. These new fangled gadgets leave me in a daze!!!
Will be in touch!
Love

Evening All
Still sneezing and coughing all over the place and a thick head (be good), went back to bed for an hour this afternoon (was coughing in the night), shame I know but it was too hot for me to sunbathe today:o . Also eating whatever easy so diet on hold for a day. Spent up to lunch time watching the Aussie tennis, so not what you would call a productive day. One of the neighbours here lent me the second Sharon Osbourne Autobiography so been reading that too.
Anniestar please keep posting, we all need friends real or virtual, and the one thing that keeps me here is the friendliness and support, don't bother with the Arms. Who else can be moan to.
Welcome Tigzem - insanity helps we are all slightly insane on here, me being the most I think.
Hester - that is stealing - surely that was not a teacher? How did you manage to bite your tongue.:A
(((hugs))) Tru - thank goodness my DS not into them, yet!!!!!
(((hugs))) celyn90 eczema is awful.
Pooky - I cannot get my head around the wedding dress thing either, nor the things they think they have to have to make it a day to remember. I had my church wedding dress and the bridesmaid dresses made by a tailoress who lived next door to MIL as a wedding present, with materials bought from our local market (they had a brilliant choice in those days) and here we are 34 years later and yes I can still remember the day. I think I may offer my DS some money to elope, as I would hate to see hard earned money throw away on a "keep up with the jones" wedding. I can understand it even less if they have been together for years and have kids. Sorry it is the commitment not the ceremony which is important.
Hi Mrs_M, Amie, Pen-Pin/Pen, GB and very well done dlb - keep it going:T :T .
catowen - I presume you have tried advertising in the local shops/papers? It is a while since I have had a CM, but I got list of names from Social Services, do they know of anybody needing one? I have even seen a car all stickered up advertising a CM. Hope you find some more LO's soon.(((hugs)))
Take care all
