WARNING VANISHING WAISTLINE ALERT!!!!!
Broke Mary and Sarah1975uk - here is the recipe for the apple and sultana bread (the apple bread is near enough the same except i added cut up apple to the bread mix and bunged it in a loaf tin).
Also must add this isnt my recipe it belongs to D&DD from her 'feeding a family of 5' thread.here's the apple braid one
Dough.
1 sachet yeast
15 oz strong bread flour
3/4 tsp salt
4 tbspn sugar (less if wanted)
4 1/2 tbspn butter
2 eggs
6 fl oz milk
I find this comes out a bit on the sticky side sometimes so you may need a bit of extra flour to hand *I make this up in my MR haven't tried it in the Panny yet!*
Set for white bread dough..
Filling.
2 eating apples
1 1/2 tsp plain flour
2 tbspn sugar
3/4 tspn cinammon
3/4 tspn lemon juice
3 tbspns sultanas
Peel, core and chop apples into small pieces toss with the remaining ingredients.
Roll out dough to 1/3 inch thick rectangle shape.Mark lightly from top to bottom into thirds without cutting!! On the outer thirds make diagonal cuts about 1 inch wide.
Place the filling down the centre of the dough then plait the dough over the top.
Cover loosely and rise for 30 mins then bake for approx 30 mins til golden brown.Gas mark 4/180 c/350 f
These cooked up fast so do keep an eye on them after about 15 mins..
Thanks D&DD - they are SUPER yummy. They are definately on the moreish scale with Twinks Hobnobs in my opinion. Think ours lasted half a day.

shelley you could highlight the text & then copy and paste into word if you have it,then you can change the size and colour of the text there instead? should make it easier to read HTH0 -
Wow Sammy, I've just read your thread from the start, well done:T . I wish I'd had half your wisdom, sense and get up and go at your age. My food bill is not too bad, but when I see your list I know I need to relook at mine and see where I can save.
I think you're very brave to post all the details of your shopping and menu plan opening it up to scrutiny and possible criticism, but it fairly helps us all that you have done so thankyou. :A
I often see the amount people spend on food and wonder how they manage to keep it so low, now I know how. I did realise how grippy I was when I met a friend at the till in Mr T just as she was about to pay for a weekly shop, her bill for the week was the same as mine for 3 weeks:eek: . After that I stopped stiving to make more savings, but you've inspired me to try even harder.Grippy is my middle name!0 -

Thats normally why we have made double quantities in the past becuase me little one normally runs off with the spoon! Have to make some more of them today - bf beens nagging me to have them.
Werent impressed this month - his work forgot to give him his christmas bonus (£150) and have underpaid him by £400 this month! and they've said that he cant have a cheque this month he will have to wait till next months pay day (about the 24th Feb) so he is a bit p@@@ed off to say the least. So now hes overdrawn by £90! Thankfully my wages come in tomorrow although no idea how much that is going to be as i was off ill last month. But i have £200 of bills to pay and my normal wage is only £250! and bf needs petrol for the month! Fingers crossed his work will realise this and help him out by getting him his money early.Time to find me again0 -
Surely a chat with a his Line Manager (or somebody from Human Resources/Personnel) would help rectify the situation if Payroll won't listen.
They can't possibly leave a young family in a position where they may incur bank charges etc through their negligence. £400 is an awful lot of money to be 'down' in your money.0 -
Exactly - Im hopign he will get it sorted today - hes taken in his pay cheque for them to look at to see that he hasnt had his christmas bonus but i think they have to look at his wages nad what he worked last month as some of the £400 is from holiday pay that he is owed. So he should get it - hes already said if he incurs any charges he is goign to take them to his manager and tell him that it is up to him to pay them as it was through no fault of bf that they were incurred,Time to find me again0

Sammy, I agree, I dont think the company can leave him without the money he's due. Its their mistake and yes, they should certainly pay any bank charges you get because of it. Hope you get it sorted... don't throw the string away. You always need string!
