    Hey,

I'm another fan of the old dating website - met my oh on one 2.5 yrs ago and we're getting married this year!! Stick with it it works.

I would say though pick one thats right for you. I'm a farmer and went on a website specifically for country people.

    Good luck ZC

I met my lovely husband on a dating site :) but I also met some of the most twisted individuals I've ever had the misfortune to encounter in my whole life.

All's well that ends well but you have to kiss a lot of frogs...

Me too. It was the twisted individuals I enjoyed the most, though :D

Does anyone have any discount or promotional codes for the sites you pay for? x

I'm not sure how quidco works. If I pay for a subscription I'll get £45 paid straight back to me? Into my bank account or do I have to use it for other purchases?

With Quidco, they take the first £5 you earn each year for their payment and then anything else you earn in that year is yours. What happens is that Quidco track your subscription order and then after the specified period of them checking and making sure you dont cancel etc they will then send you the payment, straight into your bank account if you want. Match has the following cashback amounts and the payment time is average 1 month:

£20 for a one month subscription
£32.50 for a three month subscription
£45 for a six month subscription

Different retailers have different payment times depending how fast they are. Check out TopCashBack.co.uk as well as I think they dont charge the first £5 but I'm not sure if the cashback rewards are as high. Since joining I've earny for buying stuff that I would have normally £275, and thats for 1 and half earning.

Definately worth looking at, they also do cashback for doing searches on some sites, so no buy money. Just have a browse because you'd be surprised how many companies are on there that you use already that you could be making money with!

tried quite a few and to be honest I find them all very frustrating.

Been on plentyoffish for ages- got 0 from there

Been on Girls date for free- got loads of fake messages to start with then paid up and got 0

Been on plentymorefish- same as above

    been on match.com- see above

been on match affinity- see above.

been on freedating.com- got nothing there.

tried the facebook ones- again got nothing there either.

personally they all feel like a huge amount of fail and a waste of money. I even raised a full complaint and legal action against GDFF as to why i recived hundreds of messages and lots of interest- right up to the point were I handed over the money for the membership. Strangely it got refunded very quickly ???

I wouldn't trust another dating site as far as i could chuck the owners. There their to make cash from peoples feelings, hopes and aspirations. Its hard for those like myself who strugle to go out and don't find some social gatherings manageable, but at the same time some of these sites push people further into depression

POF for example has more married men looking for affairs then most other sites. Alot of ladies who are on there get low life's messaging them purely for sex. It makes me sick.

Cause the genuine people on there don't always get a chance cause those low life's have put so much doubt in the ladies/girls heads that they run for the hills, and won't trust the guys on there.

And as for proper dating agencies, your better off lighting the BBQ and just burning the money.

As well as my quidco details, I used match.com and found my partner, soon to be fiancee on there! So would definately recommend it. You'll always get people on there, wanting only one thing (maybe thats what you want) but there are some genuine people on there looking for relationships. You just gotta give it time, and put some of your time into it. It needs commitment to go on regularly and to chat to people, clearing away the bad wood so you're left with the good.

    Good luck :)

Over the past few years I have been on mysinglefriend, muddymatches and match.com.
On all 3 of them I had some sort of "luck". I found people I liked the look of, I found people who liked the look of me, I had a few emails bounce back and forth and had a few dates.
The one thing that changed how lucky I was on the websites was my attitude. I was on registered on the websites, but wasn't actually interested in meeting someone who I might like to spend the rest of my life with-that was all a bit too grown up and scary-I might end up getting hurt, for goodness sake!!
When I realised that, I stopped on them for a while, then hopped back onto match, found a few potentials on there, met up with one of them, he moved in 5 weeks later, proposed to me 4 months after that and a year after that (now!) we are in the final throws of organising our wedding! The best £60 I've ever spent! :j
