Penny....Why are you embarrassed about the river rising? What have you done to it?
Tesco have a Breville iron reduced to £18ish I think. I bought it and it's great.
Thriftlady....I cooked a 7 kilo gammon last week (bought reduced for £14) and it made an unbelievable amount of meals....2 roast gammon meals for 5 people, 10 litres of stock which I turned into Pea and ham, lentil and split pea soup, sandwiches for 5 people for 4 days, ham and mushroom pancakes for 5 people for 2 days, and 4 thick slices for ploughmans lunch. There's also a bag of trimmings in the freezer. It gave us tonnes of meals including the soups and sandwiches.0 -

Hi all,
the weather here is much brighter and it`s actually started to sunshine in the last 20 minutes but it`s still raining. Perhaps i`ll be lucky and find the treasure at the end of the rainbow.
If i do i`ll share it with all of you
The wind is still howling and i think i`ll be looking through the fridge shortly as i`m suddenly starving, neither of the dogs are showing any interest in going out so i`ll have a nap when i`ve eaten and then i should have the energy to do some chores.
Donnygal thats terrible about your neighbours and the floods :-( i do hope it dosen`t happen again, the insurance companies that do that kind of thing should be named and shamed and put out of business.
We are reasonably high up and just escaped any water in the house last time but our road was like a river and it all runs down the hill above and down our drive
Check your pm`s
Catch up later guys

Afternoon all,
Have been busy all morning, three washes done, rolls made and baked, soup made for later lunch (had huge breakfast) and chicken stripped, some meat for tonight, rest frozen for sweet and sour later in week, stock made, just waiting for it to cool a bit to strain into veg which are cooking for soup...tired now, but garden is beckoning me...very windy here, but no rain.
Scuzz...Ouch! Hugs...should you be at work??
Haribo...some achievement with 14 lbs of meat!
Thriftlady...picked up some Seville oranges the other day as I love 'real' marmalade but put them back as I have tons of jam and jelly at present...no marmalade though so may still get them, even to freeze, will see how January budget goes next week.
Sorry to hear that so many people are again facing flooding, we are safe enough as we live on a hill (insofar as there are hills in Kildare!). Terrible to hear that some people have not had their houses sorted from last years floods.
Hugs to those of you who are still being battered by the flu bug, and to those being battered by worry and care

Taplady, I had a couple of episodes of feeling seasick last year and the year before, the doctor said it was 'labyrinthitis' caused by the after effects of a cold. Someone suggested I bought some seasickness tablets from the chemist to help - mine disappeared before I needed to, but it might be a thought if it's a similar thing.
thanks, it was a bit like what i think seasickness is(havent had it) also reminded me of the feeling of being the worse for wear!:D I got out of bed and lurched into the wall:eek: and my head was spinning but I havent touched a drop I swear!:D I am feeling a lot better now - not sick at all but still not quite my usual self. My Auntie has episoded of vertigo and it alsosounded a bit like that.
have just had my HM lentil and veggie soup - very thick and filling almost more like a hotpot than a soup!
Thought I'd taped Messiah but had taped the ice skating on the other side instead:mad:

Afternoon Guys!
Hospital went Ok and I spoke about the home testing kit (INR) and they are fully behind me:j :j :j ...they have suggested I continue attending there weekly to see if the readings are the same, then after a few weeks, I may be able to just go every 3-4 weeks:j :j :j I also made a complaint whilst there about the mistake they made a couple of weeks ago and they have put in an incident report. They were really helpful! I just expressed my concerns and reasons for making the complaint and they were fine. TBH, I have been going there since July/Aug 2005 and they are normally fine, but it was a serious mistake.
OH has decided to go out to the big freezer and do an inventory ...at least I willl know exactly what we have in.
WM has been on again since we got in and the clothes hung on the airer.
Hope everyone is ok. Hugs to all.
