OS Monday 21 January 2008

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for today, Monday 21 January. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Goooooood Morning fellow OS’ers :D:D:D

Hopefully, we’re back in January of 2008 after yesterday’s time warp (I know Christmas seems to come earlier and earlier each year, but seeing 20th Dec for yesterdays daily title was quite spooky! ;) )

After a very busy week last week (met some really lovely people :D ) and having had visitors all weekend, this week is going to go at a slightly less busy pace (fingers X’d). I have committed myself to going to an aqua class with a friend on Thursday though; one of those things you agree to do and then wonder: “What was I thinking!?”;)

B: Yogurt with granola topping
L: Chickpea salad
D: Jacket potato with tuna topping and coleslaw

Most pressing job of the day is to upload the photo’s from my camera onto the computer and email them off to people; things have been so busy haven’t had time before today :o

Annual check up of the medicine box needs doing some time this week, especially as I still have a double points coupon for Boots I can utilise – not that it should need much, but it will be a good chance to throw out anything that’s out of date. How often do you do yours?

Enjoy a moneysaving Monday everyone :D Get well wishes to those who are below par!

    Morning everyone,

Well one weary and tired Ninny here. :D The humidity here is disgusting . Some parts of Qld are flooding badly. Hope the crisis over there is over too. DGS having his nap atm. DD rang before and she was got the townhouse. She moves out on Feb 1st. The next few weeks we will be busy helping her pack, move etc. I will miss her, but at 26 she has stayed at home longer than most. ;)

It's really exciting for her. It will be the first time DH & I will be home alone for what seems forever. Just done the usual things today so I could spend the time playing with DGS. I hope to get a bit more done tomorrow.

Best go as he's just woken up.
    :hello:Mrs Mix

Morning QUEENIE and all who follow. I must confess to having checked my medicinal supplies two weeks ago; I had run out of micropore tape - which I think is great for little cuts on the hands because it helps knit the skin together - so I had to go through it all. I still haven't re-supplied it though.

Well, yesterday my DH used my car and, when he came back, it was making the most horrendous, expensive-sounding noise; he got me to move it forward a bit at a time and the grating noise coming from the front was awful. It sounded like at least £300 worth plus labour. Anyway, he took the passenger side wheel off and found some small stones had somehow got up near the brake pads (or somewhere equally technical!) and, once he had cleaned them out, the noise disappeared. We were so relieved - the last thing I want now is an unexpected expense having started my serious low-spend challenge!

We did a lot of pottering about yesterday but it was a relaxing day - apart from the fright with the car. DH did my ironing - wihout being asked! - and cleared up all the roast dinner things so I was able to get some paperwork done. I still have some more to do and will try and get that done today. I also intend to go to the gym because I haven't been for a while what with Christmas, being ill and hurting my back last week.

Well, I'd better go and have my shower and check my to-do list for the day so see you later.

(((Hugs))) to anyone who is still poorly; I haven't had a chance to read the rest of yesterday's thread yet.

    See you later,

    KathyXX

Hi AUSSIE - you sneaked in when I wasn't looking. Good luck to DD. My DS2 moved out just over a year ago (he was 25 at the time) and it was the first time DH and I had been on our own. It took me ages to get used to it - it really does seem strange at first but then you notice how much food is left at the end of the week and the amount of washing and ironing goes down! The hardest thing to adjust to is not having to wait for them to come in when they've been out for the evening!

    Morning everyone,
the weather here is truly horrible, i`ve not seen so much rain since the floods last year:eek:
I hope it stops soon, i had the wipers on the highest speed on the way to w**k and it was still really difficult to see and the roads were like fast flowing rivers :-(
I had about 2 hours sleep last night for some strange reason so i can`t wait to finish and get home for a nap i`m finding it hard to concentrate on what i`m doing.
I left the heating on today too as both the dogs were soaked when we had our walk earlier and the oldie gets ill if he dosen`t dry out quickly poor little man.
I emptied the dw and breadmaker before i left but the wm was stuck full of water, i really hope there is nothing wrong with it! i put it on a drain setting then tried a rinse and spin and that seemed to work but then i had to leave without hanging it up so i`ll see if it`s clean later.
Later today i hope do do some baking if i have the energy so fingers crossed.
    Have a good day everyone.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p

Hope you are all well and hugs to those who aren't. Off to work in a minute, another extra shift so next month will be really good for me financially.:T Should get my credit card paid off before the 0% runs out.

WM is on and nearly finished, shall put it on radiators / dryer before I go.
Unsure about dinner tonight, might have bangers and mash or bakeds pots. DS has got karate. Knitting is going really well, stops me falling asleep in front of the telly at night:D .

Have a good day all:A xxxx

    Morning

Not a good morning for me. My eye split in the night, so sitting at work with sunglasses on to keep some of the brightness out. (I slit my eye open two years ago when I accidently poked myself in the eye and every now and then the wound reopens.) It's very painful and makes me feel very sleepy. Mum drove me to work to be on the safe side.

Meant to be helping a friend out later, but depends if she's prepared to come and pick me up as obviously I have no car with me.

Have no idea what I'm having for dinner - something to do with leftover lamb from yesterday's roast I expect.

    Hope everyone's ok

Found some frozen mix in the freezer, I'm hoping it's mince so I can do a shepherds pie for tea alternatively it might be soup with mashed potatoe. Maybe I should start labelling things!!

    Morning Everyone

Well DH is in dead lumber as I appear to have his "sniffle". A bit cottonwool headed, but otherwise not too bad, may resemble Rudolf later though.

Don't know where abouts you are Sunnyday, but I can see it is raining at home, and hopefully not as torrential as June as just got the house finished (and we only had minor damage). I know one of my neighbours is still not in her house as the repair people are awful. These were people provided by the insurer to handle everything supposedly to save them money. They are paying through the nose for inferior service and their customers are not happy. They are treating private home owners as if they were council tenants and can put anything anywhere. This lady has been out since October, for work which could have been done in a month, she dare not go down to her house as she is in tears when she does. She is living at one son's as she had the kids before and after school, and her DH at the other son's 10 mile apart. The DH had to go in each day and check what was being done as they put in 1 joiner and a load of inexperienced labourers and things were a mess and had to be re-done and re-done, floorboards not right, skirtings which fell off with a slight kick, etc. Quite a few neighbours panicing badly, and this was only due to the drains not coping with the amount of rain falling too quickly, no rivers nearby. Yorkshire Water looking at updating/improving them but when??

No plans for the day yet, got some mince out of the freezer last night, so probably cottage pie for tea, cereals for brekky and salad at lunch. Have some papers to organise for out here, but seems a shame to be inside (when I could be outside sunbathing:o).
:grouphug: all round. Mrs_M :hello: Hope you behaved yesterday! Amie How's our cold? Scuzz - that sounds nasty, are you sure it shouldn't be looked at?

Apolgies in advance the "Thanks" button only works intermittently.
    Take care

    Ouch Scuzz, that sounds painful.
The floodwaters here are still rising & all the surrounding fields are flooded as are some of the gardens.
I'm off to work in a few mins, I have 2 books to post that I've sold on Amazon, I'm still tired after such a late night on Saturday, so today is going to be a struggle.
I hope everyone has a momentous Monday
    Hugs Hester
