Going to library to collect my book, walk the dogs and later taking my stepsons out for a meal. they don't know that their step sis has arrived back from Australia and I can't wait to see their faces when they see her!!

Morning all, just a quick note from me as I'm on the way out of the door again. Just been for a walk along our local canal towpath, it's really really wet out there! The fields are all under water, the ducks are having a great time with new ponds to swim on.
Have changed the beds and swished and swiped, fed everyone including the birdies outside, and have plans to hoover round downstairs later on when I get back. Have a tuna pasta salad waiting in the fridge for lunch and will make a shepherd's pie with some Quorn pieces I found in the freezer for supper.
Hugs to those feeling unwell. Taplady, I had a couple of episodes of feeling seasick last year and the year before, the doctor said it was 'labyrinthitis' caused by the after effects of a cold. Someone suggested I bought some seasickness tablets from the chemist to help - mine disappeared before I needed to, but it might be a thought if it's a similar thing.
Hugs to scuzz too, that sounds awful, your poor eye. The breakfast sounds lush though!!
And hugs to everyone else feeling down or poorly.
Have a good day

Good Morning (just) :hello:
I've only scanned the thread as I'm in the office and don't want OH to catch me. But hugs to Taplady, Seraphina and Churchmouse and any other insomniacs or poorlies.
Aussie...Stop messing with peoples' posts. It's very immature.
Due to a collision between a cartwheeling child and my laptop on Friday I had to take my poor sick puter to Glasgow yesterday for emergency surgery. Got it fixed and managed to spend a flipping fortune in Ikea, Next and M&S too.Still....I don't get into the city very often and it was all useful stuff. Honest. Thanks very much to all the people who presumed I was in hospital and pmed me their good wishes. You're just a bit previous m'dears. Operation isn't until next Tuesday.
Spent last night rearranging the dresser in the kitchen as we got a new storage bench for the girls' craft stuff so I have reclaimed the dresser for myself.
After work I will be cracking the whip at the girls to tidy their rooms. Then I have a small hillock of ironing to work through and braised beef and mash to make for tea.
Take care

Morning all ! Weather is absolutely awful and I just heard the flood siren go off ! Think they may be just trying it out.............hope so !
Well, it's going to be one of 'those' days -got a feeling. Oldest lad hasn't gone to work and decided to give it up as its costing too much in petrol for his girlfriend to take him there and back every day (did tell him this before he started) Anything to do with the fact he got paid last Friday I wonder ? He says he's going to look for a job more locally bus hasn't left the house so far.
Other lad went to see his family at the weekend, missed the last bus back. Was going to get the early one this morning in time to meet the taxi pick up for school but missed that too (good at missing buses is this one........lol) so he'll be back sometime today but can't pin him down to exactly when !
Had a card to make for my nephew whos Mum died on Friday. Didn't want to make it a 'sympthy' card as such so it took me ages before I felt it was right......two hours in fact!!!!! Still, I'm happy with the result...........floral card in pink and green with a pink ribbon down one side and on the other a contrasting piece of card in pastel green with three dark pink roses stuck on it. More of an 'I'm thinking of you' card and I've put a note inside.
I'm 'head chef' today so boys are having pizza and I'll casserole the leftover chicken with some left over carrots and leeks............so I'm pretty organised in my head anyway.
Charity bag been shoved through the door so I can put all my curtains in that to save bothering OH again about yet more stuff to take down town to the shop. At least this will be collected no problem.
Oh dear.............just heard that the road leading to Tescos has been closed off -thats always the first one to flood and the rivers very high -only a small river, well there's two small ones that come into town and its when they both get high and meet in the middle that we get the flooding........luckily we live up a hill so we're ok. Just hope nothing drastic happens........supposed to be getting the bus to see Mum on Wednesday..............
Haven't checked my 'timetable' to see what I'm supposed to be doing today............lol whatever it was I'm way off beam now with the morning gone. Oh well, not the end of the world.
Hugs to all those who need them and hope you all have a good day:jMary
I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

I've not read the thread properly except to see what Aussie has been doing to Churchmouse's post :rotfl: :rotfl: Very funny.
I've just got back from Tesco and the farmshop. I've bought some Seville oranges to make into Seville Orange Jelly for OH. He doesn't like the bits in marmalade and I don't like cutting them up, so jelly is the ideal solution, much less work;) I'm planning to make about 8 jars and hoping that they will last him till next January (we still have 2 from last year and he's the only one who eats it). Works out at about 34p a jar :j
I must slice up the huge gammon joint I cooked yesterday. I'm wondering whether I should invest in an electric slicer as I'm not very good at getting thin slices. I'll parcel it up in slices for sandwiches and the odd lumps for pasta, rice dishes etc and freeze it. Must remember to save some for an easy tea tomorrow after dd's swimming lesson.
I ought to make some bread today as well.
Today's menu
Breakfast -porridge with raisins for me and ds1, hm granola for ds2 and dd(OH has toast and the above mentioned jelly)
lunch - Kids-whml pittas with cheese in them, muffin squares, grapes (OH has the same but with beansprouts and peppers in the pittas as well as cheese)
Me -leftover bean and barley soup and toast
fruit
supper- sweet and sour fish (coley) with stirfried veg and rice.
Hm yogurt with brown sugar sprinkled on top0 -
Just had a disaster  My iron, which was on its last legs, has finally given up the ghost - so no ironing for me today :j :T Off to browse the Argos catalogue and order a new one to collect tomorrow. Does anyone have a recommendation for a mid-price iron? Or reliable brands?
Good to have you back, Haribo
Thriftlady - thanks for the reminder about Seville oranges :A
Just been out to collect an item from Freecycle and the river is still rising
Penny. x:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0
