I have just had a really good quote from the Norwich Union for nearly £200 less than my current buildings and contents with Tesco (using insurance supermarket). The Norwich Union have a 25% online discount at the moment

I have just been using Insure Supermarket for a quote on buildings insurance for a house that I should be exchanging on today.
The lowest premium is £120 from NHI. The next one up is £175 & most are over £200.
It looks too good to be true. Am I missing something??0 -
My Contents and Building insurance is up next week and so I've (only just) started looking around.
I have a renewal offer from my existing insurer, Bedford Insurance, which is around £242, covering buildings at £104000 and contents £36000, along with accidental damage, away from home cover and legal expenses cover.
I hoped that Insure Supermarket would give this renewal quote a sound beating but I was rather suprised that the cheapest quote is way more; at about £297. Key Connect seems to offer £238 but asking for the details takes me to their site where I have to rekey the info and then I get a similar, near £300 quote.
How come my renewal quote seems to be such good value? I'm not complaining but I'm starting to think I'm missing a trick as the well respected Insure Supermarket is doing nothing for me!
Any comment/thought would be appreciated.0 -
Grade 2 listed houses.....
Does anyone have any ideas on insurers who are first of all, prepared to insure you, and secondly don't take the p*ss with their quotes?!
We're currently with Lloyds TSB but it has jumped a fair bit from last year's premium.
I'm sure there are some specialist companies out there, but I can't think who they are...
Cheers in advance!

Try Period Property Uk / La Playa or Hiscox both of whom specialize in period houses0

Is it "allowed" to requote using your current insurers website etc and then take that policy and not your renewal? Can they refuse?
Using Insuresupermarket only appears to give you a guideline based on the basic information -when you add further details for the full quote it (for example, at Key Connect) it produces a more accurate figure (or should I say, I tried entering the identical details on the both Insuresupermarket and Key Connect sites and premium came out £s more expensive on the insurers site).

Payless,
What is your long standing offer to MSE users about Paymentshield? The link on previous postings is not working.0 -
A friend a work mentioned that his brokers has advised him not to change home insurance to often as it was possible for your new insurance providor to turn around and say they where not going to pay out for an incident as the root cause of said incident happened before your policy with them started (eg subsidence).
Obviously this would depend on the T&C's but does anyone have any general comments on this?0 -
