Clingfilm suitcases?

1246

Comments

  • We're interested in buying a large size roll of cling film, the ones supermarkets are using. Any cheap place to buy them? We want to use it for wrapping our suitcases to make it harder for thieves to get at it at airports. Rather than pay lots of money to have our stuff wrapped, we would prefer to do it ourselves. Or maybe wrapping our suitcases could have the adverse effect and make it more attractive to thieves? We're flying out of Terminal 5 to Buenos Aires.

Its not going to stop a thief getting into your bag its just gonna be more evident that someone has tampered with it, also local customs may cut into it anyway as part of their inbound/outbound checks.

if I saw a suitcase wrapped in clingfilm I'd open it. especially if I was a customs official. or someone with the curiosity of a small boy.

why would you need to wrap it? and how often are things stolen? just my own opinion.

there are serious holes in security measures for inbound flights, thats why baggage handlers can have such a field day.

  • With CCTV cameras everywhere nowadays, I'm surprised dishonest baggage handlers still gets away with it.
  • If someone wants to get into a case they will.

My case was opened by Homelands Security coming back from America, they left a leaflet inside where they had examined a suspicious looking object they must have seen on the X-Ray of my case.

I was pleased because it means they are doing their job properly.

I went to Bulgaria in september, everyones bag apart from mine had the locks cut off, they did this by bending the holes that the lock goes through. The only reason mine didn't get cut off is that the zips attatched to a lock on my case at the top.

Nothing valuable in the cases anyway and nothing was taken.

This only happened on the way home.

So it does say alot for wrapping bags in clingfilm.

Thats like saying that because of the cctv down oxford street you wont get your bagged dipped or your pocket picked.

All thiefs will always find the black spots in security, and thats how they "do it"

This does seem to be about living in fear. Carry on cameras and other valuables and stop worrying about clothes. I'd be delighted if mine got taken and I could claim on the insurance. I never lock my case but sadly nothing has been taken yet!
