the cling film also prevents straps etc (on backpacks) getting caught on the luggage belts

Lol! I did think that. If they did want it, or something out of your luggage how will cling film stop them? :rotfl:

How much carbon-offsetting do you have to do for the amount of cling film used? ;)

Joburg airport is notorious for pilfered baggage, it is just an added hurdle for the would be thief, the cost is R10 about 75p per case.
  • i was coming back from egypt and used one of the machines it was brilliant as i bought a new case out there cost about 60p per case and we had 4 cases :) its alot safer so your bag doesnt split open and all your under garments fly out lol

I used a wrapping service coming back from Argentina, mainly because I had lost my luggage strap and was worried the case locks would burst open if it was mishandled or dropped. When I was unpacking at home, i discovered a small puncture hole in the centre of one side of the case. I've always wondered if this was made because the sniffer dogs they use for drugs/explosives wouldn't otherwise have been able to check the case. Does anybody know?

Just another 'clever' money making scheme I'd say.

If you tap into public fears, you are guaranteed a captive audience, and that is exactly what these companies have done.

Good for them but not so good for those paying for something they don't need imo.

My thoughts exactly. People get scared easily.
