Listening to the radio in the car today and a man had sent in a moneysaving tip...

Apparently he eats his evening meal in the bath each night because it saves on running a bowl of water to wash up his dishes and he just washes them in the bath while he bathes.....he was absolutely serious!

A step too far for me! :D

Hmmm....that now raises thoughts of "If desperate for watersaving - could we just stand in a trug in the shower whilst doing so - and then find a use for the water afterwards?".....:rotfl:

I did actually try an experiment with that at one point - in order to be able to re-use the water for flushing the loo. It didnt "work" - as the loo didnt flush completely that way - it just sorta diluted things iyswim:rotfl:.

But it does raise thoughts of for anyone who had a shower on the same floor as the kitchen - then maybe an initial rinsethrough of the dishes in "trug water" and then give them a "proper" wash as normal in the kitchen sink afterwards......:think:

Not an experiment I shall try myself - as my kitchen and bathroom are on different floors to each other....(otherwise it might be worth a try - as I often have so many dishes that I have to go through two bowls of washing-up water in a row to get them all done)...

It should work if you lift the lid from the cistern & pour the water in there - we did this when we were without water for a couple of days & it worked fine.

As for eating dinner in the bath, definitely a step too far for me!

I have to share this because I was just SOOOO proud of myself

I went to take a dress (bought for a wedding) back to the supermarket yesterday evening, although I'd stupidly thrown the receipt away straight after buying it last week. Of course, no refund without a receipt, only an exchange for another item IN THE SAME DEPARTMENT. Not even for groceries. Boooo. Taking one look at all the other rubbish on the shelves, I decided it was either spend £25 on something I didn't really want, or...

Go home and rummage through the bins for the receipt.

    ...

Needless to say, I got my £25 refund

I must say it really brightened up an otherwise rubbish evening. <fnar>

So what's the most disgusting thing you've done to save a couple quid? And were you proud of yourself? Well, were you?! :rotfl::rotfl:

Ugh! Immediately I read the OP I remembered the grossest thing I've ever done to save money - unblock a very badly blocked toilet :eek::eek:

It was awful but I successfully did it and of course I was enormously proud of myself - not to mention not being a plumber's call out charge poorer.:T

It also made me realise that I could tackle all sorts of stuff that I thought I couldn't

    Hi kataklysm,

That certainly isn't the most gross thing I've seen on here. Have a read through this thread:

I'll add your thread to that one later to keep the replies together.

No, the changing rooms were closed when I bought it, so it was just tried on once at home. And the wedding is in three weeks time. I'm talking physically disgusting here, not morally .. ;)

    That's the spirit!!
