Well then I would do it,too, provided I hadn't emptied the litter tray on top of the receipt!0

I've had a DVD player, a PC and monitor, a vacuum cleaner, and a ginormouse teddybear, out of the communal wheeliebins.
The teddybear got wiped over and taken to a charity shop.
I've had plateloads of buffet leftovers from office catering.
I cut the mould off mouldy cheese.
I buy tins of biscuits reduced for quick sale in September and save them for Xmas presents.
I fill my tea flask with hot water from the tap at work and take it home to do the washing up with.
I washed out a wheelie bin and used it as a barrow to move house with.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -

WOW! That's the spirit! :money:
A blog I read (I'm almost certain someone on this board recommended it some time ago..) is called Penniless Parenting & she has some extreme money saving tips..I can't recommend her blog enough - she's young & on an extremely tight budget which obviously made her come up with family cloths instead of loo roll & banana peel chutney . I might try the chutney but not quite brave enough for the family cloths..!:embarasse0 -
Just saved that Penniless Parenting blog. Thanks. Just had a quick glance and thought - hmmm...uses for watermelon rind...my sorta frugality.
Will have to be a bit careful commenting to retailers re "extra usage" from any goods they sell. After commenting re radish leaves being edible to one recently I found them charging by weight and have the feeling that they are now charging extra to allow for peeps getting more "food" than they thought they would from a bunch of radishes iyswim.0 -
This is worse!......
Last year whilst suffering at work with a rather hideou hangover, cleauge bought a 12inch subway sandwich. She could only eat about half and then threw the rest in the bin ( still in the bag ) since I had no money on me and hadn't bothered to get out of bed early enough to make a packed lunch, due to aforementioned hangover. Ermmm the sub got pulled out of the bin and swiftly consumed... I am disgusting, it's true!!:o0 -

I personally love the idea of family cloths. I used cloth nappies and cloth wipes with my son and still keep a few cloth wipes in the bathroom when something wet is needed to finish up after a particularly messy poo (ours or his). Sorry if TMI! And I hate the way that any toilet paper that's soft enough to be comfortable just disintegrates as you use it and leaves little bits everywhere. ...I think I might actually go for this idea, even if it's just for myself as I don't think DH and DS would go for it!I'm broke, not poor. Poor sounds permanent, broke can be fixed. (Thoroughly Modern Millie)

It was awful but I successfully did it and of course I was enormously proud of myself - not to mention not being a plumber's call out charge poorer.:T
It also made me realise that I could tackle all sorts of stuff that I thought I couldn't
I had to do that the other week.
16 year old son was heaving outside the door but no way was I paying for a plumber.Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0 -
