I have started using the paper that comes with the parcels from Boots.com to wrap presents. It actually looks pretty good on its own but can be jazzed up with a bit of ribbon or a sheet of coloured tissue paper round it and of course it's FREE!

I had the idea of putting my sons handprints onto some white mugs for pressies but am stumped on what paint to use? Most paint would eventually wash off, any one got any bright ideas?

    Thanks

There are special paints for ceramics but I have no idea if they come off little hands!

There's a site that should give you some ideas... Click here

    what a lovely idea!

i dont know what effect it would have on the paint (best do a trial run first?) but perhaps the smallest layer of vaseline on his hands/soap under the nails will help with paint removal afterwards

I just ordered some gifts from there this week and have paid £3.50 delivery. It's free on orders over £45.00

I made the Xmas cake yesterday. It did grow over the tin, but that gives me plenty of room to lop a bit of the top to make sure that it is all stable. Also, for once this year I haven't burnt it...hooray. Usually I leave it in the oven a bit too long and the edges get a bit too dark brown.

Its all settled in a cool cupboard now ready for me to feed it every week....but not with what you expect. No alcohol in sight...its cranberry juice. One of the daughter's has a thing against alcohol of any sort.

I also have quite a few Xmas pressies sorted. Organised my Dad, and my nephew the other day. Everyone else, I have something planned for.

  • Our winter celebrations are a bit mixed up - we have people round to celebrate Kucios & Kaledos on the weekend before - the invites to this are going out soon.
For christmas my partner and I split up to our respective parents / g-parents and presents for this have been bought

The annoying thing is I absolutely can't buy anything for him until 2 weeks before because he has this habit of either buying stuff he wants or deciding he can't afford and therefore doesn't want it - and still doesn't want it if he is given it.
Still wish I could buy a TARDIS instead of a house!

Last night I put the fruit for my Christmas cake in to soak in 4 capfulls of Brandy (from Aldi) - I'm not planning on making the cake until Sunday so I'm hoping anyone who has a slice of cake won't be sitting too near the candles on the dining table :rotfl:
