This is my 4th attempt to post a reply today. Not any great technological problems, but just being extremely unsure whether to post or not.
Like many people, I was absolutely appalled by the vitriol on what we should call 'the other thread'. I felt this was particularly unfair as I feel that Viktory opened the thread with the right intentions (having been told in no uncertain terms by people here not to post on this thread). Unfortunately, I feel that thread veered off the rails completely and, when I last looked, had just become a deeply unpleasant place to be.
However, I would like to agree with alwayshappy - who I think has worded all of this so well. Viktory made some good points but was shouted down by people on here - although s/he often repeated that she only wished MoT and her children well. I don't think that this is any more right, in fact, than the terrible comments made in the other thread.
I'm almost unsurprised that the result of this has been what can only be described as a slanging match on here last night. I am horrified by what I read - both from Viktory (who, although I disagree with, I appreciated had a different perspective on the situation and had generally been pleasant about it) and others on here too.
You know what? I joined MSE as I am in debt and wanted to try to get out of debt. Along the way, I have found myself getting caught up in some people's lives - natural nosiness perhaps - but there you go. I have been particularly struck by MoT for a number of reasons - I've recently become a Mum for a 2nd time and I cannot imagine not being able to put a roof over my children's heads but also MoT has, despite all that she has been through, remained remarkably calm and dignified. I cannot condone the unpleasantness on any side which has been apparent through some of this - all of which appears to have come through the very high emotions that a case such as this brings. However, I equally will not accept anyone telling me what I can and cannot do (as long as it's legal).
Anyway, apologies for the length of this - but I just had to get this down somewhere.
MoT and all the helpers today - I hope that the day has been productive and that you are able to have a rest this evening.
Love to all.0 -
Well said locutus:T
Things did get out of hand on the other thread and I agree wasnt caused by Vicktory, she tried to stop it on numerous occasions, but seems to have got the "poo-y end of the stick" However many unpleasant things have been said on both sides and I hope it does stop soon.:rolleyes:0 -
as the light fades, I am in my suspenders, how has it gone today!!!!
PLease please fill me in, I can't stand it any more, the suspence is killing me!!!!

Locutus , what I object to, is someone I do not know deciding what is right for me, and then quite franky deciding they have the moral high ground and threatening to "report this thread and relevant posts to the abuse team" I am old and ugly enough to decide what I do, not this person. This person got quite a few posters hackles raised with this holier than thou attitude on a post for the support of MoT.
Their thread regarding HB WAS taken over and degraded into a slanging match, yet this person then came over here with (imo) the sole intention of causing trouble as they did not agree with peoples attitudes/ideals/ideas.
I ventured to the "discussion thread" last night, joined a thread, posted a post relevant to said thread and was them insulted by some of the posters on there: - all for the crime of defending myself from the abuse.
DFW is a place for non judgement etc - so states Martin himself. To come on here with that attitude I have described is, imo, a disgrace. This poster does not have to read or post on here if they are not happy with this thread. Its just a thought.
I do not need one person i do not know acting as my social keeper, yet they have decided to act as such without asking me. Yes, that does annoy me and I will act agrieved to it. So will many other people.I am one of the 63336.'It is better to have lived one day as a tiger than a thousand years as a sheep.'

HI MOT

hope everything goes smoothly with the move today
Pania- you have nothing to apologise for, yuo derserve a big god atr for all of your hard work
to the rest of MOTS-supporters none of us have done anything wrong or illeagal in out offers to suport MOT in any capacity so we shouldn't feel that we have to justify ourselves or explain why we have chosen to give support to somebody we have not met just because there is someone out there who happens to think what we are doing is wrong (although i can't see how lending a helping hand can be wrong). We can't help it that we are compassionate people who feel compelled to help somebody in need ouf help, whether that help be time, resource, a shoulder t cry on or any other form of support. The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about - Oscar Wilde:beer:

In the real world:
As I understand it, MoT & the twins are moving out of the emergency council housing to a friend as a temporary measure. Their physical move is being helped with I-T, friends and some posters from here. The search for a longer term solution goes on, a couple of distinct possibilities have been uncovered for which MoT is going to sort pre-determination of rents on Monday. Nothing definite yet, so I'm sure MoT will be grateful for anymore suggestions.
On here:
The claws of last night have been withdrawn and peeps are now (nicely) defending their positions as well as offering hugs of support to MoT.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Also I feel that once MoT finally gets a permanent housing solution sorted, she should be allowed to do a new thread which will be kept clear of bickering by ALL of us.19th March 2007 LBM£5,969.63 1st January 2018 £5960.18, 1st January 2019 £11,032.0018th August 2023 £12,435.00, Student Loan £22244.00 From 2009-12Challenges: To learn to stop spending..0
