Send next letter, asking for your money back, and keep within your 14days schedule.
Preliminary approach for repayment.

Hi there hughsandie, I am also in the same position as you with hsbc, although unfortunately I didn't recieve a letter about having my overdraft taken away but found out when I went to pay for £20 diesel and my card was declined.
Very embarassing but fortunately had a credit card with me to pay for it. This happened on the 7th November, I went home and checked internet banking to find that along with no £500 overdraft they had also bounced a £100 direct debit and charged me £25 for it!
Rang hsbc and they said a letter had been sent back in october to inform me that my overdraft would be taken away on the 5th November. I was pretty annoyed so went to see someone at my local branch who was a bit puzzled as for the last 6 months I have rarely gone into my overdraft, but did apologise on behalf of the bank that I didnt receive a letter. However there was nothing she could do to reinstate even a small overdraft as the 'computer says no'.
Sorry if that was a bit long winded but sometimes its nice to know there's someone else out there going through the same thing! By the way it may not be because you reclaimed charges as I havn't done that and they still took my overdraft. Funny thing is part of the reason I hav'nt tried to reclaim yet is because I didn't want them to take away my overdraft or close my account, but now I will be reclaiming both bank charges and ppi and then closing my account with them.
Perhaps you could try going to see them and threatening to close your account if you are in a position to pay off your overdraft, dont bother phoning because they cant do much over the phone apparently. Hopefully that will make them panic about losing your custom and reinstate your overdraft. Good luck!0 -
An overdraft facility is a credit facility and if you've got poor credit they've got the right to withdraw it just as a bank has to recall any loan and a credit card company to terminate your agreement.0

Hi All,
I am new so please be nice!
I have recieved the breakdown of all my HSBC charges, these are £2187 in overdraft fees ( ranging from £18 to £125)
And £120 in RECALL S/O-D/D made up of 3 £30 charges.
Firstly, can I claim for all of these charges, I believe I can but would like clarification.
Secondly at the beginning of the letter to me with my charges attached they basically say they are not going to do anything until the legal situation with the OFT is over. Is it worth me waiting to put my claim in? Should i charge interest?
I'm a bit insure as to where to go from here.
Any advice welcomed!!!!
Thanks in advance0 -

hi there,
i have been charged £25 a few times for an 'unauthorised overdraft'
a few months ago, i attempted to get a overdraft but was turned down, on a solo and switch, can i reclaim something ?0 -
My son claimed back £3000 from hsbc they offered him a settlement which he accepted, then said that it would go on hold until the court case next year, can they do this after a settlement has been arranged?0
-
The conditions of the FSA waiver state that settlement offers must be honoured.
However, the conditions also state that T&Cs relating to charges structures must not change whilst the test case is going on but Lloyds have changed theirs (which unsurprisingly screw even more money out of their victims) and nobody is doing anything about it..0 -
At the tail end of 2006, after several months, HSBC finally paid the £2080.72 that I had been claiming from my Sole Trader bank account in unfair bank charges.
Unfortunately, I didn't challenge the managed loan that I had been encouraged to take out to clear the overdraft that had accrued due to the unfair charges etc. I was just glad to get my money back as I had recently split from my wife and I still had the two children living with me.
However, in June of this year I started getting phone calls from HSBC in Southend stating that I had missed a payment in - this was on a saturday morning and the phone call lasted some 20 mins. They asked me to make a payment, which I refused until I had checked my account. When I returned home and checked the internet banking, sure enough the payment had been made. I didn't think anymore about it. This was a big mistake!!!!
Since August I have received numerous calls from them now stating that I owe £700. I understand that they have added another £140 this month in charges. Just to be clear they had closed my basic bank account several months ago and I only have this managed loan account, but still the charges are being ramped up.
I have requested five times, for statements to be sent to me showing that I have missed the payment, but so far they have been incapable of doing that. Unfortunately, I managed to block my internet banking and as usual after requesting the details to enable the facility, nothing has been received.
I am now getting at least two calls a day on my mobile hassling me to pay the money which I am loathed to pay until they show that I have missed a payment.
During my converstaion with them the other day the person on the other end of the phone said that the charges had not occurred due to a missed payment in May 2007, but a missed payment at the very start of the loan - some 3 years +. Its unbelievable, to say the least and I now just refuse to answer the phone.
Any suggestions anyone?0 -
Charges on charges, charges posing as fees, helping themselves to payments, ridiculous phone conversations ... what is it with HSBC in Southend, are they on some kind of bonus for who can rake in the most far-fetched charges?:T:j :TMFiT-T2 No.120|Challenge started 12.12.09|MFD 12.12.12 :j:T:j0
