I use a similar recipe for Everyday Biscuits (I call the Refrigerator Biccies) It has a little more suger than Queenie's recipe but half the fat. The method is bascially the same.
Makes 45 biscuits
Basic Mix
8oz Plain Flour
1 tsp Baking Powder
4oz Butter
60z Sugar
1 egg
Additions (Choose One)
1tsp Vanilla Essence
2oz Desicated Coconut
2oz Grated Plain Chocolate
1 1/2 tsp Ground ginger or Mixed Spice
2oz Raisins or Mixed Peel
Sift flour and baking powder and rub in the butter.
Add sugar. Mix to a dough with your chosen addition.
Shape into a sausage and roll up into foil. Work back and forth until 2 inch in diameter.
Chill for 1 hr
Slice off as many biscuits as you wish and bake on a baking sheet for 10-12 mins @ 190 c.
The mix keeps for about a week in the fridge or can be frozen and thawed as you need it. HTHLife's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0 -
Hello!
Got the morning off work today so having a lovely OS day so far. Put the washing on first thing then settled down to a spot of Christmas card making. Only managed to do four so far so it's just as well it's only July!
I might try Queenie's biscuit recipe later although I'm not supposed to be eating 'naughty' food until after the Race for Life next Sunday.
Have a lovely day everyone..0 -

Thats a brilliant receipe - is it 10mins cooking time if they are freshly made & chilled rather than defrosted - I have a feeling it will be but I wanted to make sure.
Thanks
K.
Yep ... just 10 little minutesBut, do keep an eye on them because they don't need to be browned as such - very much like shortbread. They will be "soft" when you take them from the oven, but as soon as they cool they crisp up beautifully

MATH - oooooh :T thanks for your recipeTempted by the less fat version ... but as it's got egg in it, would that increase the cholesterol?

This 'night out' was from 7 pm till 8.30, we both needed to change into something - ahem - a little more comfortable - (elasticated waists) then watched Gordon Ramsey - we really know how to live it up in this house when the kids are away0 -

I've said it before and I'll say it again - Old Style is like a household encyclopaedia - well done squeaks on getting all these disparate bits of info into one place :T0 -
