Morning Vicky - hope you have a good hol. You may be spending a bit of time in the Lakeland shop if the weather doesn't improve in a few days
It's peeing down oop norf
Still trying to sort this gathering out. I'm boggle-eyed having spent hours last night searching for cheap accommodation in any area with decent shops (Lakeland) Still on the M62 therefore
Also, DS2's sleep pattern has gone to pot. He was the child from hell yesterday and when he crashed out yesterday at 4 and I couldn't wake him for tea, I thought - it's OK, he'll go through the night! Wrong - doorbell went at 6.30 and up he gets - till 10.10!!!Then up at 6.30 so I'm in for another horrible day with him I expect. I'd try to run the legs off him today but as it's raining, I'll have to do multiple trips round Tesco to use the last of zziggi's vouvhersMay go puddle jumping if I feel like it too:)
Today - laundry, clean bathrooms, try and shampoo the carpets I didn't do last night maybe make another loaf. Will be putting my steak and kidney in the slow cooker soon.
Ok, off to check the travelodge site again (it kept freezing last night - just on the dates we want
Have a good one

Morning!
Well, I'm trying to make yogurt again this morning - who knows, this one might work - and once that's in a loaf of bread will start for lunchtime. Both tinies are watching baby einstein so at least are content to ooh and aaahhh.
Good night's sleep here I'm afraid TM, although it was the first in a long time. Tonight DH and I are seeing Idlewild in Nottingham (his birthday pressie) so it's going to be a long day. We too are going out puddle jumping in an attempt to burn off energy!
Have a lovely holiday Vicky ... only two and a half months to go until ours!Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 002 :rotfl:0 -
Morning everyone!
Vicky hope you have a lovely holiday although you've probably left by now.
Mother's arrival is imminent; have been up since 6.30 (which is very early for a Saturday), cleaned the house and been to get the weekly shop. Think I need to go back to bed now!

Morning all.
Got to be quick.
Ticklemouse - have you thought of Youth Hostels! I know some are a bit basic, but you can rent whole hostels, and out of main season some are only available under this scheme. Page is https://www.yha.org.uk Lots have conference/large social areas for meeting in. They also do group rates at most hostels.

Hi all,
This evening we should be having a BBQ but really not sure what the weather's gonna do, just had one rain shower as it is. Anyway I will try to be optimistic about it and later make some home made potato salad and pick some rocket salad out of the garden.
Just moved a load of washing from the outside line to the inside line before it started raining- phew!
Today have got to tidy the house before guests come- hoover, polish, clean bathroom.
Partner and I are both off work this week on hol but not going away, hopefully will go out for day trips. I plan to look at local tourism websites to see if there are nice local places to visit that I've not been to or even heard ofI've spoken to people who have visited my local area and said such- and -such a place is so lovely you're lucky to be able to go there all the time and I've never been in my life!
Also I'm going to 'encourage' partner to press on with the bathroom tiling, the suite has been plumbed in for 2 months now and still the tiling isn't even half complete. I would happily join in but he's a real perfectionist and my work would never meet his standards!
Have a good day all.

Today I have spent far too much time on here (so whats new there then!)
I have got a wash out on the line though (the one from yesterday that stayed in the washing machine because I was on here too long!!!!- think theres a theme here!)
I walked to Marks and Spencer this morning to pick up some pittas for my HM chick pea dip.
The walk is about 3 miles round trip so it gets my fat bum moving whilst also making sure I cant buy too much cos Ive got to carry it all back! Nearly bought a gorgeous top but didnt as I really dont need it and it was a bit over the top at £21 (does that count as PMS do you think?!)
So rest of the day will no doubt spent mostly on here with a little diversion for dinner and big brother. Hope everyone has a fantastic holiday and for those not on holiday have a great weekend.0 -
Hello all,
I got off to a good moneysaving start this morning, the postman bought
£25 worth of vouchers for Tesco clothing
A Love2shop voucher from Pigsback (and Ive almost got enough points for another one) which Im going to save for birthday pressies
my new bargain jacket from ebay (Ive been looking for this type of jacket in the shops for ages but have been unable to find one)
All Ive managed to do so far is tidy up after everyone else, but now Im going to retrieve the breadmaker from the back of the pantry. The last time I tried a loaf it didnt work at all and the results had to be thrown away, but Ive been inspired by you all to try again, so Ive bought fresh yeast in case it was that and Im going to have another go.
MIL has just rung and volunteered to have my DD's over for the day on Monday, so I think I will pencil in a baking day in the kitchen for then, but will take advantage of no kids to do some Christmas shopping first I think!
I think this will be it on the Old Style front for the weekend, because (please dont shoot me) we are taking the girls to McDonalds for tea tonight. Tomorrow will be completely taken up with church in the morning and then a swimming party in the afternoon.
I wont even have time to do the lovely roast chicken Sunday lunch I was so looking forward to until I saw Supermarket secrets..... Must investigate sources of organic meat.
Im going to my first Farmers Market on Friday next week, and the town where I am going also has a Lakeland so Im going to invest in a yoghurt maker too.
Have a good day everyone!0 -
Afternoon
Have had another lazy day so far, just browsing the net and eating Hazelnut yogurts - yum! Aside from that, I intend for the rest of my day to be lazy, I intend to do nothing else apart from quilt and play with the cat, ive bought some new balls for her as her old ones have dissapeared, and she is loving them!
See you later!

Children and seaside today with a friend so I'm having a ''me'' day and catching up on jobs i need to do.
Popped to the supermarket again today to use up a few more coupons before the end of the month. I went round twice and sent OH round twice too. i'm just hoping that my 'stocking up' won't end up with me ending up spending more money than i save! Done a load of washing but its piddling down here. Looks like it'll be clothes drying indoors today. Must find out where i can get those airers in an 'A' frame that go over the bath - anyone any ideas?
Bought a chicken and a leg of lamb from a new butchers that's opened that a friend recommended to me. SHe's funny about food shops being clean so when she raved on about the shop, i thought i out to have a look. Was a really lovely clean shop, beautiful fresh meat.... only problem is it's a halal butchers where the butcher only speaks kurdish and arabic. My friend went in there and flapped her arms a bit last week and got a lovely big chicken. Anyway managed to get what i wanted with a couple of very rusty words in arabic that i know.[was prepared with arm flapping and baa baa sounds if my arabic was too bad] Only problem now is i've got a leg of lamb and i'm not sure how to cook it (see other thread).

Have just picked my 3rd containerful of blackberries from the bottom of the garden, they are ripening up a treat now. Haven't got time to cook them now as family is visiting so am freezing them in poly bags (washed and re used of course) and will probably make some more jam when life quietens down around here!
Dinner tonight is a large chicken stew and dumplings bubbling away in the slow cooker. Then I'm off babysitting.
Have just spent a small fortune on some machine dye to use on some linen trousers that were once black but are now a dark shade of greyThink it must be the soap powder I used, it must have bleach in it. Will have to go try to make some laundry gloop as I haven't played with that yet!
I will have to hunt around and see if I have anything else that needs dyeing black while I am doing the trousers!
Hope all those on their hols are having a great time, mine seems like a lifetime away now (only been back a week!) Have a good weekend everyone! Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.
