I was the one with the bling from the clubcard points
:hello: hello you
And congratulations on your engagementSometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -

I might be wrong but I think Vanoonoo has already got married and used the Deals vouchers to pay for her wedding rings.
thats right jo_b - my small ring and my husbands large band were paid for on clubcardpoints converted to goldsmiths vouchers, the engagement ring was bought in lanzarote with good old cash via the tesco clubcard credit card for extra points.Blah0 -
the tesco thing isnt for me as i dont believe we need obssessions with tesco nor do i beleive all shopping should be done in there and ignore all small shops sorry its wrong tescos are greedy enough as it is. When everyone else goes out of business they will be pleased and there will be no cometition so i think its shortsighted. Am enjoying the show in general though.
Ok, I do collect Tesco clubcard points (this year my lads and I are going abroad on the proceeds) but, I don't religiously shop at Tesco.
I have a Tesco mastercard (which I pay in full each and every month). This affords me the priviledges of getting clubcard points but without the necessity of shopping solely at Tesco. (Even though that is the best way to maximise any point values).
Last summer, I bought myself a new-2-me car (3yrs old). I used my Tesco mastercard to buy the car (knowing I could pay of the card at the due date). Unfortunatley, the garage I used was a bit harsh in haggling - even though I haggled the price down, the fact I was paying by card meant that, as they were charged, they couldn't haggle down any lower. That's fair enough - it's business after all. I weighed up the cost involved in paying by cc vs the reduced haggled amount vs the clubcard vouchers I would earn vs the voucher *deals* value plus the interest I would accrue in that month in the high interest account and still it worked out in my favour (especially after doing some research, the original selling price was the very best in my area anyway)
I don't feel it's about ignoring the smaller retailers (which I support as much as possible!). I feel it's about playing the gameIf I can play the Tesco's game and profit by it, that makes me a happy consumer.
If Tesco can't meet/match the prices I can get elsewhere (ie Sainsburys reduced counter = they end up paying me to shop there and I get Tesco plus Nectar points) then I'm happy to shop elsewhere and still collect points which I will convert into deals.
Many smaller retailers will happily accept my Tesco cc if I spend over a certain amount (and thanks to my freezer, dehydrator and OS know-how, that isn't hard to meet) so I still feel I'm quids in, financially and ethically
It's all about playing the system! Know the system!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
