I managed to miss this. Does anyone know whether it'll be shown later/put onto the It Pays To Watch website?
Maybe Channel 5 could release a Box Set of the series, including the Extras at the end of the series – alternatively I have a DVD of show 2 (thanks mum!) staring ME & my £2,820I could send you a copy of, unless there is a copyright issue LOL

I'm desperately trying to get hold of the ones i'm in as I have people in Ireland who cant get Channel 5 and want to see me. (sorry Martin, you too!)
I also want to put my clips on my blog for my family in Spain and Australia. I was hoping that the whole show would be on utube0 -
Hi, Angelina! I didn't manage to catch the caluculations on your slot. If I caught it correctly, you make over £100 a year from your hens. I have hens and my calculations show that they cost me money. Could you show us the figures
Many thanks
PS - I don't mind them costing me - they're a great hobby, have individual personalities, and are a wonderful addition to my garden :T We have a cockerel atm, and have had no complaints regarding his *enthusiastic* crowing :rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -

Oh crikey no I dont make £100 a year. I make nothing but they dont cost me either so that means I have lovely free range eggs for nothing.
I have five hens and I get four eggs most days. One of the hens stopped laying ages ago so she is just a free loader enjoying her retirement.
I sell my surplus eggs for £1 per half dozen. I was worried that people wouldnt pay that much but there is a lot of interest and I never have enough for the demand.
The £1's that I get go straight back into a jar to buy the layer pellets. They also eat my kitchen scraps such as potato peeling - I just boil them for a few minutes and give them to the hens whilst still warm - the hens gobble them down on these cold winter days.
The fact that I havent had to worry about the quality of the eggs I cook for years, knowing the hens have a good life would be enough for me to pay out if I had to but this system seems to work so i'm happy!
They do ruin the garden though. If I was just starting out I think I would section off areas for them. My garden used to be wonderful but now its thread bare and all churned up :rolleyes:0 -

PP, That's exactly what I thought, that Angelina made over £100 a year, cause my OH asked me if I would keep hens , I said I would but the covenant on the house will not permit "Livestock, caravans, boats, beach huts", (the list is endless).
I wish I had recorded it so I could watch that bit again."Wisdom doesn't automatically come with old age. Nothing does, except wrinkles. It's true, some wines improve with age. But only if the grapes were good in the first place." — Abigail Van Buren0 -
I Sky plussed this week's show and watched it last night, thought it was much better than last week's. I agree with the others who said it was a good advert for Tesco's though. I don't have a Clubcard and actively avoid going to Tesco's because of their plans for world domination
Martin's style was much easier to understand this week, keep up the good work! I'm still not sure about the "celebrity guest" though, I'm not interested in so-called celebrities generally and certainly not bothered about their finances, would much rather see this section done with an ordinary member of the public.
And just a warning about the chickens - if you plan to get some check with your neighbours first. The people who lived in my house before me kept chickens in the back garden, the neighbours complained and they were told by the council to remove them. A similar thing happened with someone who lived near my parents.
I agree with all that you say. I found the show great. Martin seemed much more at ease. Not fussed on the celebrity bit and Tesco can afford to offer clubcard points - because they charge a lot on certain things. I've got to the stage now were I shop at Tesco, Iceland, Netto and H&B with rather than just Tesco and can usually get twice as much for the price I used to pay by just going to Tesco.
Keep up the good work Martin.

Hi, i thought i would add my feedback on the show, i was so excited to watch it after seeing martins show a few years back on itv.
but i have to admit i didnt find it that good, im not a fan of the set lay out with the people all standing behind and around martin, i know this is about moneysaving but the set looked a bit cheap looking.
I know martin is a very fast talker as loves to tell people about money saving and gets excited but things were happening so fast, it was all to quick for people who dont know about the site to take things in and understand what he was talking about.Make £5 a day JAN £121/175 FEB £283/175:jWeekly Grocery budget of £35! Jan £95.05/175 Feb £37.53/1750 -

I think money could be made if you had more hens and of course lived in a place with no restrictions. I've only got five hens but I doubt there's much difference keeping five or twenty five. They amuse themselves during the day and put themselves to bed, I just lock the door behind them.
So if I had maybe three hundred eggs a month then I could come away with profit. I know its all relative with the amount of food I buy but I just buy by the sackful at the moment but I bet it would be cheaper to buy a pallet.
The eggs are worthwhile searching out if you know someone local. When you crack them open, the yolk sits up proud like a round rugby ball, not flattened out like battery hen ones. The yolk is also very orange from grazing all day. I hate to see yellowy insipid yolks :-(0 -
fantastic second show well done martain & ruth ....more pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee:TCan't sleep, quit counting sheep and talk directly to the shepherd :cool:0

I just watched the second episide; had it sitting on the Sky+ half the week..
Just have to agree it was very Tesco-centric. I do have a clubcard, but the Tescos anywhere nearby are an Express and a Metro, and they are sh^d^dwoefully deficient in range and stock levels, so I very rarely visit either, unless I'm alreday in the area for something else.. (The last time I went in the Metro with my "urgent items" shopping list, they had so few of them that I ended up with a trolly with just three differnet items in it!! Then got turned away from the "self service" checkout by an obnoxious assistant because I had a trolly!! (It didn't say "baskets only", I checked.) so I just handed it to her and walked away.)
I seldom earn enough points for them to even send me any coupons, and I don't usually get to soend them before they expite..
On the plus side ... anyone recommend what to spend getting on for 30K of nectar points on? I was saving them up to spend at adams when we had the baby, but they stopped offering those just before she was born :-(0
