Sounds like a good idea to me kal25 - I think a lot of Mums prefer something hand made and whether it comes from you or her grandchildren it doesnt matter.........long as your Mums happy, thats what its all about

Hi guys, I know this will sound bad but I don't normally get my mum anything, it's normally presents from the kids that are given. However, I have decided that I will perhaps bake some big cakes this year and give to mum and stepmil. For the children I was thinking of getting an artist canvas(99pfrom HB) and letting them go with the paint:confused::confused: .Will definetley be making my cards this year as the xmas ones went down quite well. I can't believe everything is so early this year.

Instead of getting the kids to paint the canvas:-
Ask the kids for all the reasons they love nanny/Grandma, and print them out in different fonts and sizes - cut them out
get the kids to do handprints on some plain paper and cut them out
maybe some little photos of nanny and kids
Anything else you can think of

Glue them onto the canvas and when it's dry seal it with artists' varnish found in art/craft shops.

I guarantee your mum/MIL/ will love it

I have never ever done anything like this before so was a bit fustrating trying to get the cellophane to do what i wanted it to.

Both our parents were thrilled. My mum wouldnt open hers for ages, she said it looked to nice to open :p

I will definately be making more of these, i have bought tones of cellophane anyway :p They are more personal than just an average gift

This is what I made my mum and mil for mothers day, I know it was last week but hope you like them anyway. The boxes were made from £1 paper, ribbon and tissue from poundland and a shoe box. The mothers loved them.

    They look lovely.
I keep meaning to ask the shoe chap on our market for some shoe boxes. I use them for posting stuff off to my son in sussex and am thinking my teenage grandson may well prefer a box to a basket................lol
