Mothers day

  • How about making your Mum a lovely Mothers Day tea... little sanwiches in white and brown bread (crusts off, of course!) lay them out on a platter and garnish with cress or parsley. Arrange mini cakes ( homemade or shop bought) ie Fondant fancies, country slices, on a cake stand and serve with a lovely pot of tea.

    I did this one year for my Mum and made mini vanilla slices ( these are her favourites) she loved it.

    Wow! That's early!!

    We have made our Mam's a hamper each consisting of:
    * 2 green candles
    * 2 tealight holders
    * mini bottle wine
    * 2 pack face mask
    * L'oreal 2 step ReFinish kit
    * Special mum bath petals

    Only worked out at £6.71 each and we are going to make some green cards to stick on them with instructions like:
    *Run yourself a bath - sprinkle in 2 or 3 petals.
    *Pop downstairs and pour a glass of chilled canti.
    *Once bath is ready light your candles.
    *Slap on your face mask and lie back and relax!!

    Or something like that anyway :)

    What do you lot think? These are my first proper hampers!!!
    Do they look cheap and nasty??

    Please, please be honest as I don't want to insult them!!!

    Dawnylou they're lovely.............certainly don't look cheap......if anything they look worth more that you say. Well done. Hope my first hamper turns out as well. It'll be a birthday one and I've got everything for it, just a case of arranging it so it looks better.

    Oh, and love the idea of the card to go with them.............brilliant !

  • DawnyLou they look really lovely - well done - I'm sure they will be really pleased.

    Where did you get the Special Mum bath petals from? My mum loves Lily of the Valley so they would be perfect. Thanks

    As a mother I love getting cards but I don't want presents as I think it's become too commercialised. Having said that, I always get flowers. I've managed to stop them buying expensive florists' bouquets, telling them that I'd rather have a bunch of pink tulips from a supermarket (true).

    Funnyfreckle - I got them in Home Bargains for just 16p a sachet I think they were.
    They also had bath crystals and boxes to match that had a soap plus something else in them. HTH :)

  • Thanks for your help dawnylou. However, must say I'm gutted they were from Home Bargains and such a bargain! The number of times I've looked at this site and wished I had one nearby - apparently our nearest is 55 miles away!
