  • I used to really like Toluna up until a couple of months ago since they say they've processed my voucher requests, but I still haven't received them even though some have been processed for over a month :/ I got in touch with them and they basically gave me an answer which didn't make much sense and said that it wasn't their fault or problem! It's a shame since I've enjoyed being with them as I've received many vouchers off them in the past. I'm hoping it's just because it's the Christmas period, so maybe there have been delays in sending them to me.

Well, no more Toluna for me it seems. I actually got a response for my vanishing account syndrome, which given their poor reputation, I should probably feel special. Only two weeks to respond too (wow), maybe due to the thousands of complaints they receive on a daily basis.

They apparently have no record of me ever being on their books, but they can confirm that they terminated my account due to breach of terms and conditions. A bit of a contradiction surely?

Then they go on to list a few of the terms and conditions that I may or may not have broken. Now, I know that I have not broken most, if not all, of those T&Cs, but one of them does stand out. Article 9, which states that if they deem a response too long or too short, they can automatically terminate your account. I may well have broken that rule, but then I suspect that anyone can break that rule at any time. It's a rule that allows them to terminate anyone's account at any time they like. Maybe I am being cynical, but I had just earned a couple of vouchers, so the timing seems a little too perfect.

I can only recommend that anyone that receives a voucher code would redeem it as quickly as possible.

On a positive note, I think I was so addicted to completing their surveys, spending most nights doing so, they have probably given me a large portion of my life back!

Surely though, if you've done enough surveys to earn your vouchers, then Toluna owes you those vouchers - whether or not they've terminated your account! The fact remains that they do owe you them for the work you have already done!. Think about it, if your employer terminates your employment with them, for whatever reason, in law, they should paid you for the work you have already done for them - unless you have committed a criminal act of course - which you clearly have not done here! The same applies with Toluna, surely? I think you should report them to the Office Of Fair Trading or somewhere like that and show them up once and for all! Actually, from what I've been reading on here for years now, I can't understand why someone hasn't done something about Toluna's underhand tactics long before now! 2050.gif You should certainly keep all the correspondence you have received from Toluna anyway. As you say, if they claim they can't find any record of your account with them, yet also say you have breached their terms and conditions; well they can't have it both ways can they? I'd say you have a very good claim against them! I wonder what Martin would think about this!

I also have stopped using Toluna having finally, after a 2 and a half month wait, got my Amazon voucher.

I was just so fed up when, yet again, having spent 20 mins on a survey, the last screen would not load and I didn't get any points. Tried emailing them on numerous occasions only to get an automated reply, and if you try replying to that, saying that it didn't answer your points, you just get the identical automated reply again

If it was a once off - fair enough- problems do occur, but with Toluna it's been going on for months and months.

Frankly they treat their members appallingly

I'm at just over 30k points. I see from my notes that I was at 53k early last year. I also see in the 'vouchers' section that I have lost quite a few points due to 'reward expired', one of them being 20k

How are you supposed to stop this happening? You can't cash them in since you're nowhere near the required points, so you just lose them..? Have I missed something?

It's clearly a waste of time. Points should not expire. What you've earned, you've earned. I think it's time to leave Toluna. I think I might just spend all my points on their lottery thing and call it a day...

Thanks for the reply. I do feel a bit cheated having spent a long time (probably too long!) earning £45 worth of Amazon vouchers, then having them taken away from me soon after they had processed them. I have never had problems with any of the other survey sites I am joined to. All rewards are pretty much immediate, unlike Toluna. Thanks, also, for suggesting the Office of Trading Standards. I'm not too much of a revengeful person, but maybe they could do something. I'll just end end my post by showing the rule that I feel allows Toluna to do pretty much as they please....

    Article 9
Toluna reserves the right to suspend or terminate this contract at any time without this limiting the provisions of Article 5 of this contract in any way.
In this event, rewards gained by the participant shall immediately be cancelled without prejudice to demands for any damages in his or her regard.
Toluna shall regularly check the consistency of participants’ responses to the questionnaires, surveys and tests, in order to ensure their validity and quality. Thus, in the event of inaccurate or incoherent responses by the participant or response times deemed suspect (response times considered to be too long or too short), Toluna may automatically terminate this contract.

I haven't been getting the 15 point quick vote since 28th Dec despite doing a few a day - is anybody else the same ??

Can't wait to ditch them once my voucher has been processed!!
  • Wow, just when I thought I'd heard the last from Toluna, their 'customer service' have weaved their magic again. They've sent me a reply to my first complaint of the vanishing account... A whole month and a half later (in their words 'shortly')... and strangely later than the reply to my second complaint. Oh, and it's the same automated response that I'd received the first time.

    Dear Member,

Thank you for your email. Unfortunately I have looked up your details and they have not been recognised on our system. We can confirm that we removed your account based on the breach of our terms and conditions, some of which are listed below: ..........

Perhaps they 'lost' my email in the same place they 'lost' my account. :rotfl:
