Delta 3-in-1 Combination Microwave oven with 3 year warranty - £64.99 at Aldi

A few years back we bought a Panasonic NNA-750W Combination Microwave oven.....!!!!
Just three weeks after the warrantee expired we started having problems with it... loss of display and intermittent drive to the turntable..!!!!
I tried hard to get Comet & Panasonic to sort it out for me on the basis that a product should last a reasonable amount of time.....
As always, Comet never want to know about your problems.....!!! ask Edd Doolan on Radio WM about it...!!
Panasonic pretended to want to help and they simply passed us from pillar to post around local Panny dealers in Coventry & Birmingham.... non of them wanted to know.... because they never sold it to me.
Now being a retired service engineer with a life's time experience behind me, in the RAF, Domestic Appliance, TV, and Business Equipment Industries, my next logical step was to investigate the faults myself........
What met my eyes when I took the cover off shocked me in disbelief, it was simply appauling workmanship......!!!!
Untill then I thought Panasonic was The Best!!.....
There was cheap half manufactured edge connectors simply hanging half on and half off the main circuit board....!!! dry soldered joints.....!!! wires far too close to hot surfaces....!! and dispite only using it once every few days to cook with, the drive coupling to the turntable had more or less disintegrated......
I fixed everything and it worked fine for a few years then that turntable drive started playing up again... this time it was the drive motor spindle had also disintegrated.... a replacement motor assembly would cost me around £45.00 and that's with me fitting it........
Hey-presto!!! along comes Aldi with their Delta brand oven with virtually the same spec and uncanely similer fuctions, but with some nice little extra refinements....... price £64.99 and with a 3 Years Parts and Labour warrantee it cant be bad....!!!?? we have used it for about 3 weeks now and we are absolutely delighted with it....!!!
Never, ever, will I buy a Panasonic oven again....!!! at £199.99 it wasn't cheap and a pain in the neck all the time we had it, besides being a complete waste of money.
We havent tried the Grill on the Delta oven yet but everything else works perfectly..... Even if it lasts for just the 3 years the warrentee is valid for, we would have had our moneys worth compared with the Panasonic.

this one goes to 200 degrees, but allowing that you may reduce the temperature by 25-50 degrees C when using a convection oven then this is actually up to 250 degrees equivalent on a normal oven
Weird.
My 2 year old Stanless Steel Delta with 3 year warranty goes to 230C.
Wonder why they reduced it for the newer model?
Different supplier I hope!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Moneysaving Expert do not reply to requests regarding deleting membership.

I bought one of these after reading about it on this site. Hadn't clicked on to the fact that the glass dish would still turn even just on the convection setting - not great when all my trays etc are rectangular! Managed to find a solution though - bought a set of 4 cheap spiral-style metal egg cups from Asda - think they were about 85p, took out the glass dish and put one egg cup in each corner et voila!! Keeps your tray suspended above the little cog in the centre.0

I am quite happy with my oven from ASDA I do have a small problem with it and that is the user guide. I can use the microwave part fine and the oven part fine but don't know how to use the combined. The user guide basically tells you about the settings and what does what but no cooking times even just basics to use as a guide. Is this a silly question or should I just experiment don't want to get food poisoning lol0

Like Tech-Engineer, i will never but a Panasonic micro again even if it's best buy with Which. Bought one which lasted 18 months then foolishly bought another one. Faulty after 5 months; had it replace, fault reocurred after 2 months. I returned it and insisted on my money back (Currys was very reluctant but I stood my ground) then having seen the micro deal for that weekend in Aldi's, promptly bought one. Saved money and the micro is great. will never nuy Panasonic again and def recommend Aldi for all electic stuff :j0

Isnt the benift of the Panasonic that its much smaller in overall dimensions, compared to the oven capacity? i looked at cheaper alternatives, but they we all much bigger than the Panny.Hope the above posts are not typical!0

A bit of advice for anyone who wants to use a combi properly as an oven, get one with proper shelves in... a lot of these combis only have 2 circular stands, which is great for pizzas and ready meals, but you can't really use trays etc. in it.
.
Just to say that I have had a combi microwave/convection/grill oven for about 17 years - on my second one now - got the first when renovating house and had no kitchen for 6 months! Only 3 of us then, down to 2 now, so use it all the time, only use main oven when got visitors. Mine has 2 wire racks, and it came with a circular metal pan. I have since bought some non-stick metal pizza pans (use for roasting potatoes/oven chips/whatever) and some circular pyrex dishes - you can get quite large ones, including flan dishes. Small oval or rectangular pans & dishes also fit ok. Have sometimes taken out the revolving glass plate and just put the metal rack in on the base, then can use rectangular pan for convection or grill - so no problems re pans. Additionally, as others have mentioned, don't forget when cooking on convection you can use a lower temperature (by 15 - 20 degrees) than recommended for a non-convection. I also find that as the oven is small, it does seem to get very hot very quickly, and no need to pre-heat using convection. Must have saved a fortune in leccy over the years. Hope this helps. Best regards. SS.0 -
Has anyone ever sussed out using microwave with combination or grill-how much of each to use, the book is hopless unless you have say, a half pound steak. i just end up with using just one method.0
