  • Welcome Claire and Mumzy and good luck in your journey to slimness.

Claire, an actifry is like a deep fat fryer, but uses little or no oil! I bought it from Costco for £99. I know it's a lot of money, but I am finding such a lot of uses for it and I am now just spraying fry light in there instead of even using 14mls of olive oil for 1kg of home made chips. My kids hated oven chips and as I would not allow a deep fat fryer in the house, they would go round my mums for chips (to save me from myself!) but you just stick the oven chips in with no oil and they come out crispier than they would in the oven.
Don't get me wrong, they are not the same as deep fried chips, but we really like them. You know when you have been dieting a while and you start to dislike the 'fat' taste, these are great because nothing is greasy. And to my lazy bones' delight, the actifry has only needed wiping over with a paper towel. If it does get too dirty it mostly all goes into the dishwasher.

Sorry guys, I am not trying to flog them, nor do I work for Tefal! but as it's my new toy, I am really happy trying it out, I am doing vegs in it tomorrow.

I am still deciding whether to have a red or green sw day today, so I best get on and feed myself something good, quick! - sounds mad but I had 'fry light' egg fried rice yesterday for breakfast and it was really nice - bit strange for brekkie though.

Have a really good weekend all x

Hi all, hope the weekend is going well for everyone so far! Am I allowed out of the naughty corner now? :p

So much for not wanting to gain 2 weeks running, I have let things slip this week and I'm going to pay the price on Monday with a 1-2lb gain (or more as it will be TOTM too) but I have enjoyed it so I don't regret it.

Congrats to everyone who has lost weight this week or STS! :D I haven't spotted any complaining about "only" losing 1lb... well done folks! ;) Special congrats to Vix for that first 1lb!

    Also welcome to the newcomers!

KPC - I'm sure you're right about your body going into cling mode, I'm guessing you only just started eating a bit better a day or two before your weigh in? I'm glad you had a bit of a loss though! I don't iron any of the stuff on your list either, I only iron what absolutely NEEDS ironing. So if you're a slob, so am I :p Appraisals *shudder*, glad that's a thing of the past for me. Being self-employed I guess I could always do my own :p Have a FAB time in Spain won't you! Yes, catching up on a week's posts is a bit time consuming as I am finding out right now!!!

Victory - Feel bad for you having to work with someone who's such a pain in the rear, I've been there as I'm sure have many others and I do sympathise. Glad you got those flights booked even if all the extras do add up  I am always having dreams like your one by the way. Nearly all of my dreams involve looking for someone/something that simply cannot be found. I have never bothered looking it up. (p.s. I'm with you about Nigella!)

Bails, your sig stats are looking FAB! Especially the £894 saved already!!! Hope you're doing OK with the refocusing and everything else. Glad the teaching went well! Thank you for the explanation about the scale readings, that does make sense! :D

Marion I've had a 4lb gain midweek once and it had sorted itself out by the following weigh in, perhaps you just got caught on the wrong day at the wrong time? Please don't think of it as a failure! BB gave good advice to look at the month overall instead of just one week... Same goes for you Poohbear...

BB, about storing the meat in the freezer, I just use freezer safe plastic food storage tubs. I hope this is safe? I'm not a food expert :o Ooh, I've just noticed you were wondering where I was a couple of days ago - nice to be missed! :D I hate that you had a bad time with the rudematologist though :(

Grannynise, big congrats on reaching the halfway point! I agree about 'hiding' the rows on the chart for anyone who hasn't posted any messages or weigh ins for a while. We seem to have lost quite a few who joined at the beginning of January...? Thank you for the chart this week, so happy I've made the 5lb challenge once as I doubt it will happen again! xx

Vix, I was at the Sport Relief mile in London 2 years ago (but working not participating), I thinkI covered the course about six times during the day! It was a great day, brilliant atmosphere and the mile will be an easy peasy distance for you after all that stepping - good luck!

Suggs, bit worried about you with the family problems you've been mentioning. I hope it's something that will be sorted out soon? Thought of you this morning while I was watching a little of the French rugby on tv. Happy Slapping Wombles :rotfl: Did you get any response about your ebay thing? I've had that before, seller was having some kind of Paypal issue and it was OK again within a day.

Delly, thanks for posting up the WW points thingy, I always wondered how that worked. My basic daily allowance would be 15. I don't think I eat enough veg to really make the most of WW diet though. I really hope your cleaning efforts at the inlaws house are appreciated.

Bluecorn - so good to hear you're feeling chuffed! 6lb off every week isn't realistic (or even healthy) as you've probably accepted now! You may not be able to see the change yourself quite yet but it won't be long! Sometimes I think we are slow to recognise our own changing shapes, sometimes others notice it more than we do ourselves.

Julesgr, condolences to you about your OH's nan. I said goodbye to my Aunt this week which was incredibly sad, she was only in her early 60's.

Efrieze, welcome back and to have a probable LOSS while you were away is really outstanding! Glad you had a great time!

This week has been rather busy with the funeral (what I was wearing was fine by the way - I was one of the smarter ones...), more sorting out at home, and planning a very MSE-grocery shop which I did yesterday! I stocked up so much on "offers" that I had to go twice round through the checkout with the trolley :rotfl: A couple of the long shelf life things I have bought a full year's worth!!! Yes the checkout man did comment and give me funny looks. No I didn't care :p

I've also received some AMAZINGLY good news this week, I just need to get it "organised" and then I will be able to share it with you lovely peeps :D

Phew, right, that about does it. I'm sorry for anything important I've missed or not commented properly on. It has taken ages to catch up! x
  • bounce.gifyeah, missyg's back - I was getting worried that you were trapped in the naughty corner and no one could her you shouting for help:D . Looking forward to hearing your good news, once you are 'organised'. Tahnks for responding to the freezer/meat question -I don't know if containers are safe or not: I'll see if I can fin out, becasue more sound than throw away bags.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

I think I will need to go and buy a set of kitchen scales, to start weighing food, as I have no idea what 100g would look like..lol, do anyone have a good one, that is cheap!

Nescafe have just added an electronic scale to their bean gifts! I think it was £2 postage.

I don't watch her for her cooking! :p:D

I've not been on the last couple of days, but I have been keeping up with the fruit & veg (apart from a take-away pizza I bought to celebrate the writing of the cheque to pay off HFC loan 1!) Lets see if it will show on Monday

Welcome to Claire1847 and Mumzy welcoehithernicetomeetycv2.gifI hope you have success with us here :j . I know there are quite a few others threads thoughout the site, but here we don't follow one particular weight loss plan but between us we cover about everyone going WW, SW, RC, calorie counting-DIY etc:D . I found the daily support the best help of all last year and firmly believe that I wouldn't have managed so well without it, there is always help at your fingertips. We've all had ups and downs so feel free to ask for help and some kind peep will always try to help...

...Granny You are doing a great job with the chart :T , it would be total chaos of the mega kind if I ever tried to do it, that's why I don't volunteer :o. What a good idea re coping with the health people. If confidence permits, I would like to give this a go on Monday - About 4 weeks ago my prescription was messed up by a succession of mishaps/stupidity by the trained people (not me for once!), I'm stuck in the middle taking the blame but not any meds and boy do I know it, and the way I now feel I think they'll know it too!! Sorry, getting a bit ranty :o , problems never come in ones  ...

...kpc Have a lovely time in Spain  ...

...Well done Bargain babe 1 lb in the right direction :j ...

...Your most very gracious 6d6607dafa.gifPurpleness I love local history and landscapes stuff too, I don't think enough people realise what can learnt just by looking at the countryside, what a great sounding weekend :j ...

...Had our first sprinkling of snow for the winter during the night (now almost gone) but compared to other areas I think Planet Petrichor has got off very light, I hope that none of you lovely peeps are suffering  ...

:wave:Hi Claire1847 and Mumzy, you will find all the wonderful people on here are very supportive.
Claire I have been trying EFT for a few months now but not for help with weight loss more for helping me deal with the frustration of being unable to do the thigs I used to be able to do.I also use it to help me to sleep I find I can get back to sleep much more easily now when I wake during the night. When I get the other things sorted I might try it for weight loss.
Thanks for the support Missyg, I am desperate to get back on the scales but I am trying to control myself, I will continue with the healthy eating and small plate.
kpc Have a great time in Spain. Oh how I wish I was somewhere warm, we have lots of snow here.

granny Thanks for doing the chart.:T

On Tuesday I will be making lots of pancakes but not eating them, my sons are really keen pancake makers and eaters.Luckily I am not very keen on pancakes.

missyg - You wouldn't be on 15 points a day - I think the minimum for anyone is 16 - 14 if you are saving points for a special occasion at the weekend.... and since you are a maintainer you have to add 6 points to your daily total to make sure that you don't keep losing weight once you're at goal.

brighton belle - I'm so sorry to hear about the rheumatologist - I had a really bad experience with an OB/GYN when I was having infertitlity treatment. I work in the same hospital that he is in and he still doesn't know why I fling him alternate dirty looks and bright smiles when I see him (dirty looks becasue he was an ignorant git to me - bright smiles cos I had a baby without his help... sucks boo to him!). If you feel that strongly about how you were treated, I'd highly recommend writing to their Patient's Advocate. They address any issues on your behalf whilst you maintain your annonymity (sp) and you get a response from them. I severely regret that I didn't complain about the OB/Gyn's treatment of me, what I did to though was refuse to go to an appointment without my OH - so that I'd have a witness if necessary.

Welcome claire and mumzy - Please stick with us, we're all more successful for posting on here.

efrieze - welcome home and grannynise is in charge of the chart for Feb, so you can take a well earned rest.

Petrichor - I hate the blooming snow, we only got a couple of inches through the night and it's mostly gone now thank goodness as the little plonkers in our area have been throwing snowballs at our house and annoying Sasha. I've already caught them climbing the fence at my back garden and throwing snow to make her bark. Next time they're at it, I'm calling the police and making a statement that I won't be taking responsibility for my dog's actions if they continue to taunt her and break into our back garden.

Just back from the house from hell  - I have even more cleaning to do than before as we got the ceiling replastered in the front room and the bathroom and the plasterer left a terrible mess..... men, why don't their mother's train them. He's ruined a brand new broom and a brand new mop and mop bucket..... Could he not have brought his own? If it was my house I'd be

I gotta tell you, I'll be glad when this is all finished. The plasterer is finishing off the bathroom ceiling on Monday and the painter and decorator should be finished on Tuesday (hopefully) then it's just a matter of the final cleanup and making up the bed etc.
Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.
Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.

Claire and Poohbear I've just googled the EFT thingy. Is it similar to the tapping technique that Paul Mckenna advised in his I Can Make You Thin programme? I have his book and cd but I don't really want to subscribe to anything else. If something can help with maintaining weight loss, sleeping or dealing with emotional baggage then anything is worth a try, (although on the latter I think I'm a lost cause), but I can't help but think that it's just another fancy method of 'mind over matter' which is how I coped with the weight loss. However, as you are both praising the EFT stuff, perhaps you could be kind enough to explain it further. Thanks :D . If this has done anything for me it has at least made me dig out the McKenna stuff from the dark recesses of my room, may as well try it again and see if it helps, but the cd makes me fall asleep like someone else mentioned here the other day, I've never heard it through to the end!...

...delly We have plonkers here too who like to throw snowballs that conceal stones as you drive past, I live for the day when a driver loses control and ploughs right into them, I honestly mean it :o . There is a difference between playing and what they do!...

Thanks BB :D I'm sure food containers must be safe enough? I just wash mine up normally in hot water (I bet someone reading is wincing now) but if that's not good enough they could be sterilised/boiled to get rid of any nasties?

Raphael, congrats on paying off HFC1! You really are making a fantastic job of dealing with those debts!

Sadly no sign of any snow chez Missy, Petrichor! I loooooove snow. Could I have yours Delly? Thank you for the further clarification about the points too. Really hope this house cleaning 'mare is over for you soon. Good karma must be coming your way for all this!

I've really taken my eye off the ball with the diet stuff this week - I was rubbish today too :o I think it's going to be worse than I thought when I weigh in, but the slacking stops RIGHT NOW, just because I've been an idiot for 6 days doesn't mean I have to make it 7. At least I did a full tough workout today and I feel better for that!
