Ajax, great to have you back! Seeing you has reminded me about MB - might schedule in another go this week.

.....personally Bails, I'd hang back at the moment. In the middle of March you'll get the Cheltenham Festival which is a big moneyspinner - all the big bookies will be increasing their match promotions. Look in the papers then, especially on Gold Cup day, but all 4 days of Cheltenham are big. It'd be daft not to maximise your earnings potential. Use this time to see what they are offering now, and get a feel for what is a good offer. For instance, you may get £20 from William Hill at the moment, but come Cheltenham that will be £75 or £100. Don't forget Quidco too.

    Morning All

Trust we are all well, missyg stay on the naughty step in the naughty corner please, I argee with all things bails says :p

Had the children this weekend, I wont tempt fate, but things did get better, however Friday I felt so low, the gutter was above me, not below. I know I talk in riddles about my children at the moment, but only so not to burden. Saturday and Sunday things get better and I am hopeful.

Played rugby at the weekend, first game for 6 weeks, since the dislocated/torn ligament in the finger, anyway started in the bench. Came on start of second half, first tackle, took a bang on the knee and somehow pulled anouther finger  We won 37-3, no I didnt score, but the knee swelled up nicely as did the finger. Spent saturday, noticing how the bend of the knee was getting less and less. Time for cold water bottle on saturday evening, two hours worth. Sunday morning, knee greatly improved :) Weith wise, yes you guess it, I play rugby = a gain in weight on Mondays

Ajax, glad to here all ok, hows the missus? and more importantly hows the telly? Which one did you get and how did you get the deal?? Im with missy though? DTD??

Bails, sorry I didnt realise you had scales, thought you were looking for some, the fat monitors are good though :)Hanna stick around, prove to yourself you can and will do it. A few days off is not a bad thing nor the end of the world, we all have a few days off from time to time :)

Right back to work for me :) or should I gym it??

  • back at work and the day is feeling very long indeed. I wonder if anyone would notice if I joined ajax under the desk? He's been very quiet lately.

Suggs, I hope things are resolvable for you - don't worry about talking in riddles, you don't have to share everything but I'm sure I'm not the only one hoping that everything is okay for you.

TV sounds ace Ajax, and you are right - pizza was a must. Pixie, it's not that I am Legend is a bad film - far from it. It's well made and well acted but I found it really quite frightening and also depressing. The ending didn't really ring true for me. Having spent the week sufferieng from 'a virus' probably didn't help either. I spent a quite a lot of it hiding behind oh or blubbing, which wasn't what I really wanted to be doing on my first jaunt out of the house in a week. Still it was worth it for seeing the latest orange ad which has macauley culkin in it.

Dragon, keep focussing on what you have lost, and how much better you are for ticking all those boxes. Go you! Don't you cut those calories too much missy, or the bitey boot will be after you!

A STS will be fine next week, I just don't want to gain 2 weeks running. I am not sure what to set my calories at this week then, because:

    w/c 14/1 - 1165 average cals per day + 3x gym sessions = 2.25lb loss
    w/c 21/1 - 1260 average cals per day + 4x gym sessions = 1.00lb gain

Next week TOTM comes into play as well, and I thought 1250/day would be about right for trying to stay the same without being too generous or too stingy. Exercise will be 3 or 4 sessions again.

    Any advice please guys?

Hi Dragon... Is a 4.5lb loss since January 1st not a good thing? That's more than 1lb per week and almost double the pace you need to lose 28lb in a year! Perhaps I am misunderstanding but it seems good to me?

Hi missyg this is 4.5 pounds in 13 months! not so good - at one point last year I got down to 19-7 and was doing well - then the docs upped my medication and well I piled 2 stone on in a week and no I wasn't over or under eating!

I am hoping for less pain this week (I am never out of pain) so I don't need the medication and that way I should be able to lose weight! At the moment I am chomping my way through a whole head of broccoli as lunch/snacks (I also had a raw carrot and some dip)

...DTD = double the difference. OK, sorry for the length of this......

It's a Technika (so what?:D ) 37" LCD and was reduced to clear at £450. I paid for it, spotted they charged me £500 and said nothing. I let them process the card, and as I was feeling a bit playful I asked the assistant to take it down the escalator on the trolley as I "had a bad back". When we were on the escalator away from the hustle and bustle of the desk, I pointed out to him that he charged me £500 instead of the £450 on the shelf edge label but as long as he took it back up and credited me with £100 as I knew their double-the-difference policy, I wouldn't make a fuss in front of everyone else. So back up we went, he scanned the shelf-edge label of the TV I asked about, scanned my TVs box again, and said that they were different models. He'd brought me the 207 rather than the 107 and the 207 retailed at £500. I told him I asked for the one which was £450. "We don't have any of those left" . He offered me the 207 at the same £450 price as a goodwill gesture. As £450 for the newer model was the new "worst case scenario", I went back to the double the difference standpoint and asked him to check that it was in fact a 107 on the shelf in the first place (the only difference in them is that the 107 has no pay-tv slot in the back). So out come the ladders, he gets up and reports back and it turns out to be a 207 on the shelf with a 107 SEL under it :D ... happy days!

We talked some more, and had two differing opinions. He reckoned that the SEL and the TV in question were different models, so therefore DTD didn't apply as the TV wasn't wrongly marked in the first place. I reckoned that it was impossible to tell that they were different models from the front, it's not like sticking tinned tomatoes above a tinned beans label, so they were in fact essentially advertising the 207 in the first place. We called the manager and he immediately decided in my favour - I never even had to go down the "product misrepresentation" route, although he may have realised that was on the cards. £100 refund to me :) Hopefully I'll still get the 5% Abbey cashback on the original £500 rather than the new £400.... that fiver is as good in my pocket as anyone else's!

......yeah, I would!!!! However, as we're now in the 21st century, it seems only respectful to pre-warn you that if you do join me under here then you will emerge humiliated, bewildered, compromised and dribbly!

Bails - glad I'm not the only one confused about the numbers on the scales! Did you buy your scales in the end? Actually it can't be % of whole body weight either because then those three things should be substantially lower than 100% as it doesn't take into account bones and other stuff. The plot thickens...

I may have to have a go on MB too, thanks Ajax for the tip. Stoozing is going to be a complete waste of time methinks. I've managed to stooze a grand total of £6.40 this month :rotfl: (card arrived after the grocery shopping unfortunately).

Suggs, sorry to hear Friday wasn't great but at least the weekend was better. Hope everything works out OK soon. Did you enjoy your game despite the injuries?

Dragon, yes sorry again - my fault for not reading properly. I am sorry you're getting little reward for all your efforts :( Are there any other options for you at all? I suppose you have probably tried all manner of different things by now.

Result with the tv Ajax! Martin would be proud :p Lol Suggs with "more importantly how's the telly"... missed that in your original post. I'm not doing very well today am I? :o
