Serendis, well done for monitoring how it's going and starting to see some patterns - even if you can only do odd days it all helps. Good luck with your lecture, you nervous?

The moderators would not allow the words I wouldwant to use to answer this question :o....ah well 'do or die' is the motto when out of ones comfort zone....I may not be here monday night

One reason why I was plumping for an educational route in the vouchers debate is that all I knew about nutrition I learn't myself....the same as all my money management and cooking skills are self taught (parents helped with the cookery)...the food tech class at school taught me the rather valuable lesson of how to make a cheese and pickle sandwich....given the fact that I was 12 at the time and was cooking for my family most nights I found this a touch patronising....If they brought back some key 'life' classes then maybe they could address soem of the psychology behind fod, teach you what to do with the healthy stuff and maybe teach some coping techniques to help you through life.... (mebbe a bit off topic now....soap box is dissolving as I speak!)

The one image I can't get out of my head when I swing round to the thought that adults should know enough by now...is when watching Jamie olivers school meals programs and see the mums feeding junk food to their kids through the playground fence....

Found this and liked it so thought I'd share it with you all
Now I sit me down to eat,
I pray the Lord I will not cheat.
If I should reach for cake or bread
please guide my hand to greens instead!
But help me Lord if I indulge
and lose the Battle of the Bulge,
to understand that ounce for ounce,
    It's Who I Am
    That Really Counts
    Weight loss since 01/08/07 - 72 lbs:j

    Welcome to the newbies:D

I do WW what kind of rut do you find yourself in?

If it helps there are many WW products on the market that make it very easy to follow, to point count and to have variety and change in the weight loss journey:D

Are you activity levels low because of health?
    Thanks for replying :)

To be honest, most of it is related to lack of motivation. I do suffer from depression, and know I'm not helping myself by staying in and hiding away...but I find it very difficult to give myself that boost.
I feel tired alot of the time, I've got myself into a vicious circle.

That said, I did spend an hour in the back garden earlier helping DH cut back some trees.

I think I've been going wrong by trying to tally up at the end of the day. Someone sent me a lovely PM earlier suggesting that I carry a notepad to keep track at all times.

Please do put me down for the challenge :)

Lovely description of your lady today Vix, sounds like a delightful experience! Bless you for missing your man after less than a day, I'm not much better! Where's he gone anyway? Are you planning to move in together soonish?

Hes at work, and we live together already. Ha, that makes me soooo sad doesnt it? Weve been living together for 3 or 4 months now, both crammed into my parents house (not through choice) but he got thrown out so the choice element was removed! Couldnt be happier, wardrobe space is at a premium but otherwise its all good!

Have a good sunday folks :)

The boost you need has to come from within or with help from your docs/DH friends and family, if you are ableto open up and tell them you want to loose weight and what your goal is then they will be with you all the way as we are on here:D

You spent an hour in the garden that is worth writing down as a positive thing yu did, something for you to be proud of, to look back on and realise you can better yourself, small steps....

I know all sorts of people on WW that tally from their evening meal backwards or change it lower to make up for the weekend chinese, there are many ways of doing it but if you mean a food diary it is always best to write it in straight away as soon as you are about to have it and then at the end of the day look at it, it helps to see where the points are going/what you can cut back on, what worked for you etc.

Goals/weight loss are always bettter if they are taken in tiny steps like I would like to loose a 1lb a week or this much for a friends weeding or for my birthday, if you sit and look at the whole picture it has a tendency to be overwhelming and defeatist;)

You may be feeling tired all the time from the food you eat, from the depression, from the worry, there are many reasons why but I know from me the good foods I eat now make me much less lethargic, snappy, bloated and yucky feeling than the ones I used to eat:D

I find making a positive and negative list works for me:D write down all the good you are/you do/you see and the negative that is holding you back/you don't like etc and tackle each one, each one that goes from the negative to the positive is a triumph and should be celebrated, like I said small steps:D

  • well guys, (hello newbies!)
I went to class and I knew I had over indulged over Crimbo (and beyond!) but I had put on 5.5 lbs of the 7lbs I had lost, so its an overall loss of 1.5lbs since I started (again!)
Anyway, back on track and looking forward to losing - for good!
Thanks Victory for your useful post - I'll try and look on the positive side a bit more.
    catch you all later x

Morning everyone, hello regulars and welcome newbies! Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

I had a really good kitchen sort out yesterday, I completely re-organised it and did a new inventory. According to my shiny new list, only 13 items need re-stocking to get us through February so it should be another cheapish month! :D Now need to find out where it will be cheapest to get those items!

Small breakfast this morning of 1 slice toast and 100ml yoghurt drink, and it's jacket potato & chicken for lunch. Considering breaking open that packet of frozen sausages that's in the freezer and adding one of those... day before weigh in too! Shocking!

As for the daily calorie count, I usually plan the night before. If there is something that needs using up the next day I start there. Otherwise my main meal is lunch so I start with that, tend to reserve 200-300 cals for the evening (I'm not much of an evening eater), and then whatever is left I juggle the number for breakfast and possibly a snack. I'm pretty sure WW points is the same in principle. It takes 5 minutes of planning at the most - and of course if I wake up the next day and fancy something else I can easily re-do it!

Sorry for not commenting on everyone's posts today, I'm feeling a little lazy :o I have enjoyed reading and catching up though!
  • eeew vix, that sounds gross. Well, OH decided to stay in after all so we had an xmen marathon which was nice. I was just still feelng really off and slightly sorry for myself andknew i'd end up blubbing over nothing if left to myself. Feeling much better today, and in half an hour I am allowed out again! Yay! Alas, OH is now being a real monster as he is suffering from lack of cigarettes. So I'm being as sympathetic as possible. Has anyone on here quit smoking? Anything that I can do to help him? I'm making him cups of tea but it doesn't seem to help all that much. Sigh. Will almost be glad to be back at work.

Hi new guys, hope you like the thread! Some fab advice from Victory there.

Katiepoppycat: Usually two things that take things off the mind for men: Food and sexual activities. Both at the same time if possible :p

although being on a diet means you will have to ditch chocolate and cream, perhaps you can smear raw carrot juice over him and lick it off. Two raddishes over his nipples and a big lettuce leaf elsewhere :p

Ive been making cards today. Made an easter card (might post it cos im quite proud of it) and i made this secret love thing for the boyf for valentines day. Was meant to be doing more cards but im getting bored and i can see the level of mess ive made all over the living room table!
