Why do you think I said Tia should change her name to Jessica???? It was not because of the character Jessica Rabbit from the film "who framed Roger Rabbit" film rather the jessica rabbit that requires batteries;)

Obviously you are all too clean living on here:p

Not sure what that says about me:rotfl:

Ok Im going to make tea, now I have lowered the tone.....

Hello, hello, just poppin back in to do tomorrows list.

I thought you might like to read this if you don't use the Weight Loss thread. Just my thoughts when someone asked if Flylady was moneysaving, so whenever anyone thinks on here they aren't moneysaving being a flylady ( or flyboy wherever he's hiding) remember these.

To mention one point first, the Flylady I am writing about in here is the one we do on the OS board, this is quite different to the one which is on an American website. We don't encourage or discourage members to use that website, buy the books/goods from there etc.

As far as is the thread money saving, I believe so, for the following reasons, aswell as others
    • The work we do would cost a fortune if you had a cleaner, some have used it then stopped a cleaning service they used.
    • Keeping things clean like dishwasher/washing machine/vacuum cleaner etc filters prolongs the life of them, I was told by a qualified engineer that on average maintained appliances last twice as long as those which are not. Vacuuming regularly and taking care of cleaning tasks before they become disgusting can save in a replacement of an item. Am I the only person who will admit having to replace something which if I'd taken care of it, probably would have lasted longer.
    • If someone has an issue with cleaning anything we will try to offer solutions which won't cost a lot of money (or the earth) and will hopefully save the item.
    • If someone is looking to buy something most will offer suggestions on where to buy it cheaper, what discounts are available etc
    • Decluttering rooms has made some people quite a lot of money by selling the items, some have just managed to find things they thought were lost which saves them the cost of replacement
    • Some have used it to help them clear a room/space so they can have paying loders in their home
    • Safety - accidents/fires cause injury, illness and can cost money with time off work, therapy, childcare, replacing things etc. There are several parts every week encouraging people to keep in mind safety in the home such as clearing stairs, checking fire alarms etc
    • Time is money, if you can do what we do it frees up time for more productive things like work, making money elsewhere etc
    • Jobs done include reorganising fridges, freezers, meal planning, keeping paperwork organised (including dealing with items urgently, I could have had a large fine this week if I haddn't done a paperwork sorting session and found something I didn't know was there) looking for lost items (like library books for example) which all can save people money
    • A clean home will always make you feel better, therefore improving your outlook on life, becoming more organised etc. Also reduces the need for shopping, eating etc for comfort as some have mentioned when you feel better about yourself.
    • Being a more organised person in general is great for money saving, flylady has helped a lot of people become more organised in their lives in general, many have taken the principals of it into their work place.
    • Cleaning can help you get fit :D make time for yourself to help yourself relax, get fit etc. I'd rather vacuum than run on a treadmill, at least I am achieving something aswell as just getting fitter.
That's of course just a few things I think are very important, the support has probably saved a lot of members paying for counselling :rotfl: me included. Reading through all that, yep, Flylady is very moneysaving :D Housework and looking after the home/family must be the lowest paid, unthanked job, we're just trying to make it a little easier.
One day I might be more organised...........

Gah! 174 posts while I've been in work! I will read thru them in a sec.

Had a bad day today (check my thread for details, can't be arsed to type out again!) not even checked the list yet...oh the living room, not too bad.
Better get on before it gets too late for the vacuum. Then I'll read thru the posts.

Well said Lil_me. We are our own little money saving community, offering support to each other.

Swimming done, tea done, just need to find out where the tesco grapes for DS2 fruit salad are from. In cookery they are talking about the food miles involved in their fruit salads - very impressive.

PTA meeting tonight, last one before the AGM and I stand down so won't be getting roped into anything.

Will pop in when I am back

Oh dear today hasn't gone too well so far. Am going to see how much I can catch up on tonight.....

Getting ready for my second day:
    At home:
    Clean floors kitchen floor
[STRIKE]Clean one cupboard out, what is that in there? anything out of date? Sort through it and clean it before putting everything back[/STRIKE]

Tuesday Living Room, Hall and Stairs

    Level 1
    Vacuum floors and sofas
Remove clutter making sure stairs especially are safe
    Level 2
    Dusting, even if around everything
Clean TV, other electricals and cabinets
    Level 3
    Wipe light switches and banister
Clean any other glass like mirrors etc
    Tidy shoes, coats and bags
Vacuum under furniture (only if you won't hurt yourself doing it, no injuries, no pregnant people moving sofas please!!)
    Extra Mission:
Pick one or more of the following tasks –
    • Clear one hotspot, or just spend at least 5 minutes tackling it
    • Phone a friend or loved one, catch up on the gossip or just to tell them you care x
    • Clear one shelf, dust and replace items after giving them a wipe
    • Clean a window, only need to do one but if you manage more then :D well done
    • Using the idea Shirley suggested (where is she anyway?), get yourself a bag or box, go around collecting things that are not in the place they should be, then put them back where they should be. You could delegate and give everyone their own misplaced things to deal with
    At work:
    [STRIKE]As well as teaching:
    Meeting with S & L examiner
    Prepare room for S & L sessions
    More photocopying for 6th form
    Prepare Weds lessons
+ all the unexpected things that occur[/STRIKE]
We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.
