Serena I'm off to the boots sale at the big super store tomorrow - any tips - the boots thread moves too quick for me! Did your kids have exams today?

    Hiya
I got the voluntary job - three hours a week - just need to wait for my police check to come through. It's an amazing place.

Torianut - hugs to you. My daughter had grommets when she was five and never looked back. I was told that she kept getting infections because her eustacian (sp?) tubes were very narrow. Apparently they are quite immature until they're five or six (the tubes not the children). I hope you get it sorted.

Tia - :rotfl: I can't believe no one else commented on the battery comment!

AnW'smum - best thing for iron is lots of chocolate, all your favourite foods, feet up, good tv, good book, no housework...ok, we can dream! Hugs to you.

    Speak soon xx

Hello all, came back to find five news pages!!! Keep spending most of my time reading instead of cleaning...any old excuse not to do behind the fridge.

My sister and my DH both had grommets put in, DH still gets ear infections and regular deafness and my sister is fifteen now, but is slap bang in the middle of an infection as we speak. They can be great, especially at improving hearing, but as with anything that is effective, there can be side effects. A small percentage of people have slight hearing loss as the grommets leave scar tissue on the ear drum. My sister managed to clear her glue ear and reduce the number of infections she got by using a nasal inflation ballon. Looks weird, is weird and requires some serious concentration to do it. It'll be w hile before your LO is big enough to do it, but if his problems persist with age, I would suggest it in lieu of repeated operations.

Right, have taken some photos of the house, but is now a big mess again as I was finishing the handles of the kitchen cupboards. Poo.

    baby crying.

Congratulations! I hope the police check comes through quickly for you.

Re the battery comment - I was too busy wiping the mineral water I sprayed over my screen to comment on it! :rotfl:

    • Using the idea Shirley suggested (where is she anyway?), get yourself a bag or box, go around collecting things that are not in the place they should be, then put them back where they should be. You could delegate and give everyone their own misplaced things to deal with :D

Dustykitten - the exams finished yesterday for DD's year - and they were just the mocks. DD had the day off as she didn't have anything yesterday, and went back today extremely reluctantly! She did the first paper of her history, as she missed it last week. DS1 has only coursework to do, so no exams at the moment.

I had a brilliant time at the Boots sales, and the children are really pleased with the things I got for them - Lynx sets for the two boys, a wok cook set for DS1 (a keen stir fyer!) amd passport cover for DS2 (for his trip to Normandy later this year). DD had two No 7 sets, and I bought one for myself, and also a National Trust coffee mug, with coffee and chocolates - most of these cost between £2 and £3 each. I also got a few gift sets for my present box, as there are always things for the children's friends during the year!

The desk has been picked up, and I must go pick up DS1 now - he's been round a friend's, playing with the Wii that they managed to find in town this morning!
