drunk people drop money hahahahaha theres a clue as to where to look ha ha...have u ever been to a soft play area with your kids the ones with ball pools, they are fab for finding money in, i used to work in a play area and I would often find pound coins pushed to the sides of the pools or down the gaps of the mats under the balls, the trick is to get your kids to pretend you're playing sharks with them or something hee hee!!!

I'd totally forgotton about this thread until I stumbled across it just now. Since the first of June I've found the grand total of......yep, 0p :(
DD1 and DD2 found a few 2ps in the arcades at Skeg in August but they spent them straight away lol. I shall endeavour to find something, even one single penny by the end of the year!

Found a penny in the middle of the road this morning - sign of the times, the [STRIKE]drunk[/STRIKE] inebriate students zig-zagging their way home used to be far more generous!

  • I've been perhaps a little "too" enthusiastic about this since Summer 2010 and have kept a daily record since January 1st 2011.I will post my January figures and I hope you find my findings interesting:

    January 2011 total £29.12

    It breaks down as follows:

    Denomination No

    £10 1
    £5 1
    £1 5
    50p 1
    20p 20
    10p 14
    5p 31
    2p 28
    1p 111

On 1 Febuary I found a £20 note and am up to £27.85 for the month to date.

This thread seems to interest people soI will make a separate post about the places that prove to be the most successful. Interesting patterns and anomalies emerge
    £2
  • Okay here are some comments on the best places I have found and some of the strange patterns and anomalies emerging too...

A number of people have already mentioned on this thread about schoolboys tossing away their schrapnel. I agree entirely and walking in the vicinity of newsagents and bus stops where schoolboys tend to congregate in the morning and when they finish in the afternoons will often result in finding copper coins.

    Other good places...

at the foot of atm machines
    behind/underneath park benches
Phone boxes (I find more on the floor than in the phone itself)
At the foot of Parking meters

Where do I get my best results of all?

Not on pavements but right against the kerb on the road. That means walking on the edge of the pavement or even on the road to see what's there but it's easily the best place to find money.

In terms of patterns that emerge- I have my favourite stretch of shops in a residential area that tends to yield up something every day. An odd one is that I frequently find 2 £1 coins together- that has happened about 7 times in 7 months. I find that odd.

Anomalies are interesting... I have areas/places that will yield up goodies nearly every day for weeks then I will find nothing there for weeks/months. There is no apparent reason for it but it just happens.

Another anomaly- One or two people here have said that outside pubs is good. Its just my experience but I haven't enjoyed any significant success outside pubs.

Overall I think different areas will yield up different results.

Just remember to look up every now and again because your neck will sure start to ache.

My best find of all recently was non cash. I found 2 concert tickets in December which fetched £86 on ebay.
