Typical of our currency these days, the "copper" coins, dropped in the street, can go rusty so quickly as to be difficult to use. (I paid the last 2p, that was going all pitted, into the bank as part of a plastic bag pay in;))

I remember the days when people sorted through their "silver" coins to pick out the ones with silver in them.

DH was travelling by train yesterday & was settling himself down in an empty pair of seats, in a mostly empty carriage when he stood on something: a £5 note  screwed up on the floor.
No way of identifying the owner as the seats had not been reserved by the previous sitters, so into the piggy bank. They're a rich lot in England!

Oooooh, just found this thread, can I join in too?? I haven't found anything recently, so will start from 1st June and take it from there.

My younger brother was always the one to find 'big' money, whilst I only managed the odd measly 2p. Last year OH dragged me out early to a Sunday carboot sale. Spent £1 to park and trapsed round, and round, and didn't spend a single penny. There was me thinking what a waste of time it was and how I wish I had opted for a lie in, when I happened upon a folded up tenner right in front of me so I reached down and pocketed it (no way of telling who it might have belonged to) and it made the early start seem not so bad after all :) That was my first and last biggie.

Here's hoping for a few more. I think my pot will either be for mortgage overpayments, or to put towards holiday spending money for next summer. DD1 takes after her uncle and can spot a penny at 10 paces, she's a swine in the arcades at the seaside, even tried to grab someone's winnings once!
