  • There is a massive area near me that gets COVERED in daffodils, and as kids we used to play in them and everyday without fail we'd find some money, sometimes £5 sometimes coins. When the tractors came to churn it all up, thats when you would find most of the coins (the paper money wouldn't of stood a chance SOB) though the coins ended up slightly mangled! I think there was always lost money there because it's on the way to the 24hr garage and there is a path through the daffodils.

My mum once found £300 on a bus, she was a single parent and poor at the time so she kept it (twas near Xmas) but she said it was rolled up in clingfilm and shoved between the seats (she stuck her hand down because the bus conductor came on and she had shoved her ticket down there) so maybe it was like drugs money? Don't think anyone WISE would stuff that money there.

  • Not happy with Easons :( (bookstore, Dublin).
I was at the till the other night. I noticed a euro on the floor, picked it up and without thinking blurted out "I found a euro". So the guy behind the till looks at me, holds out his hand, I put it in his hand, then he puts it in the till, closes it and gives me a look like I'd tried to take his money off him or something! Grrrr.. whatever happened to 'finders keepers'?

Next time I think I'll say "mine" and not hand it over!

On the bright side I've been finding a steady supply of tiny coins at the train station/near the ticket machines/at the bus stop recently, so have maybe added 20 or 30c in the last week or 2 to my 'spending money pig' for spending money when I go out to Australia later in the yr.

(I'm going to visit family, and can only get back every 2 yrs or so generally).

I must join in with this challenge. I found a penny yesterday and my daughter said - oh mum how embarrassing picking change up off the street... within ten feet I found another one so said to her I have doubled my treasure in ten paces. Her face was a picture. Students eh!

    Xmas Saver!
I used to do this all the time, don't know why I stopped, my eldest son had a metal detector and late one bank holiday afternoon at the reservoir picninc area, he found over £30!

We only used the detector a couple of times and it stopped working - it was from a school fete - but I'm tempted to see if it's mendable as summer's coming soon.

I've got a pretty pot so I'm off to label it 'finds' and hopefully there'll be a bit in it next February.

  • I must be over £7.50 up in the finders keepers pot, & most of that is only 1p at a time. Found 5p yesterday in superdrug always look on the floor near the tills!! my little girl found 20p on the floor at her grannys house ( squeaky granny ) she begrudgingly gave it to her so another 20p for the finders keepers:T I haven't found any paper money yet, but live in hope.
I find bus stops are a pretty good place to look too, I get the kids to pick it up when it's right by someones foot:rotfl:
