Evening one and all

Well meals ended up being:-- weetabix
- an apple
- 3 krisp rolls (crispbread jobbies) with Low fat cream cheese with garlic n herb
- an apple
- pasta bake -with plenty of veggies in -
Think thats all i have had today, the apples are stunning great big rock hard ones straight out of the fridge mmmmmm they weigh 1/2lb each
but are soooo fresh n juicy
Weigh in for me in the morning ..fingers crossed for that 1lb to have vanished-good luck to anyone else weighing in:D
I think that is about me for today -for once i don't have much to say  yes-i know it doesn't usually stop me :rotfl:
think im off for a bath and a pamper and have an early-ish night...

hope everyone is having a good evening-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
Belly dancing was great:j a good workout, boy do I sweat - sorry TMI:D but a great mood lifter too
PMSL... I loved that!!
You do not sweat sweetheart.. you merely 'glow'.. I however his morning sweated like a bear in a sherpa fleece and a sleeping bag!!
I had an epiphany earlier.. fruit teas.. if I wait ntil they are cold I can drink them without sugar.. I'll try that one tomorrow. 26 teaspoons of sugar each day CANNOT be doing any good!!.. That IS a 'cut down' amount as well.. sometimes I have twice that!!
And I need a new battery for my scales.. it is completely dead now.. hopefully the reading will have a few lb's less with a new battery!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Well evening all,
S'been interesting on the thread over the last 24 hours. Boy, doesn't a bit of heated debate spark up the appetite:rolleyes: !
I just popped in for a look, but a funny thing happened I though I'd tell you all about.
I have been bad tonight and had 3 pints  (of delicious Addlestones Cider, don't go there it will lure you in and you will be bad too), after work.
So, to make amends decided to have oven-roasted haddock brushed with red pesto and black pepper with pettit pois and salad for supper and leave out the spuds. Opened the microwave to bung in the peas and found the porridge I was supposed to have had for breakfast still in there. I had no idea that I forgot to eat it this morning. Am not a great porridge fan, but eat it as it settles my stomach and postpones lunchtime until at least 1pm, which is good?
Any recipe ideas for solid cold poridge...................:p

Evening everyone
Well, a very good first day for me today :j
B: porridge (sk milk/water/honey)
L: houmous salad (houmous, cherry toms, lettuce, spring onion, cuc), 2 oatcakesturkey curry (turkey, onion, olive oil, carrot, tin toms, water, HM yogurt, desiccated coconut) with basmati rice
Snacks: banana, 2 chopped apricots with approx. 10 unsalted cashews, apple, 4 wholewheat crackers with houmous
Drinks: water x 3, decaf tea/sk milk x 2, decaf tea/semi milk x 3, banana/coconut smoothies x 1, milk shake (sk milk with Nesquik powder)
Exercise: 6 x 10min walk, 2 x 20min walk, walked up and down 1 x escalator, climbed 11 flights stairs (and then down again)
Fruit/veg: over 5
Triumphs: Said no to birthday cake, walked up/down the escalator instead of just standing there, Didn't buy chocolate or crisps, didn't have toast when I could smell it drool, was desperate for a snack when coming in from work but had crackers/houmous instead :T and weighed the rice out for dinner.
OS Tips:
Replaced cream in curry with yogurt, which is much cheaper, especially as HM
Weighing out oats/rice/olive oil uses so much less, and is better for the waistline.
Mixing water with milk for porridge saves on milk, and makes it even creamier because the oats absorb it so well.
Added a carrot to the curry to pad out the meat.
Used only 2 tsp olive oil for onion and carrot in curry, and this was plenty
Walking/stairs saves on gym fees
Being on the thread means I haven't signed up to an online diet service which I was thinking of doing, thereby saving me money.

MRSM this is a very good tip and its something I always do for me and my DH:T theres no waste and no temptation to eat more than you should! I have lots of dishes for things like lasagne, cottage pie, veggie or meat pies, leftover roast meat in gravy, anything you like really. i just freeze the extra dishes (money saving!:T )
Good luck tomorrow with your weigh in!;)Do what you love :happyhear0 -
Good eve all ! Bit tired to do the soup missive today but I will ! sorry to hear yours didnt turn out ok pigpen.
Didnt go out as planned, was too knackered after work, hopefully will do it tomorrow. Did buy a sandwich for lunch but only had half of it with some hm chutney added, 3 big sticks of celery and some cherry toms. Dinner was the other half ! with loads more salad. Feeling a bit bloated and I'm sure that's the diet coke I had with lunch, and I did have a small chocolate caramel bar as well ( fairtrade tho, LOL.)
I'm lucky - I love salad all year round but then my idea of salad encompasses all kinds of veg, fruit, pulses, nuts etc so there's usually something I can make salad of ! and in winter its still a great accompaniment to hot things like soup, jacket spuds, pasta, toasted sandwiches etc. I do like raw turnips so if I can find some youngish non imported ones I'm going to start using those as raw wedged or grated in salad. I also quite like cold porridge too orpheusI guess you could always reheat carefully in the microwave - or turn it out into an oven proof dish with a scant sprinkle of brown sugar/honey etc and reheat it that way whilst you were cooking something else - porridge brulee ? LOL !
Good tips there rumblytum - if cooking a curry I always add veggies to stretch the meat ( if there is any in the first place ! ) Also another tip I picked up from the Good Food mag this month, which I did used to do but forgot - if you are using low or lowerfat substitutes for cream etc in cooking, heat gently and add some cornflour to help stabilise - they say 1.5 tsp per 300ml.
I looked in the fridge and freezer to see what to have for tomorrows dinner. There is a lone baking spud, a small cauli that I bought earlier in the week and forgot aboutand a few rather fierce spring onions that really need using up asap. Now, I reckon those will make a lovely mash, what do you think ? With proper farm made faggots from the freezer, carrots and either peas or edamame beans I think that will be a dinner to look forward to !

Er, thanks Kitty, I think
Hmm, I might just leave it another day in the pot. At least then it will be useful on the rockery..... :rotfl:DFW Nerd # 768 - PROUD TO BE DEALING WITH MY DEBTS :cool:0 -
Evening all, :j<- thats my exercise for today. I'm tired just watching him!
Today wasn't the super fantastico day I had imagined it was going to be, I was doing ok until 8amAte my porridge like a good girl (with apricots & raisins. Tasty) but was hungry again really quickly, probably because I'd skipped dinner the night before, so ended up eating my sandwiches by 9am, not good when you're working a 12hr shift until 7pm
Luckily I had anticipated being hungry after lunch (I'm used to 4 slices of bread sandiwches rather than the 2 I had today) so had taken a slim-a-soup in with me so had that and an orange for lunch. My friend took pity on me too and bought me a mullerlight
That and a plum got me through today. Well, that and the breakaway choc bar.
Dinner was some HM vegetable & chicken curry that I'd made & shoved in the freezer on Monday with some rice & lentils. I've just made some Broccoli & cheese soup (works approx 15g of cheese per serving, less than one Dairy Choice Healthy Extra at SW if I remember correctly??) and have some bread sorting itself out in the BM for lunch tomorrow.
Breakfast will probably be weetabix with raisins & apricots, though probably a good idea to take it into work so I can eat around 9am when I start to wake up & get hungry (and its moneysaving as I can use the milk in the canteen), lunch will be soup and bread and dinner will be some sort of tuna pasta thing or HM spag bol.
Thanks for the warm welcome, & I hope everyone has a great day tomorrow

Hi all
My modest opinion on the thread: it is great as it is, although sometimes a bit overwhelming to catch up with everybody's news. But the support is great, really invaluable! It is this thread that will allow me to dump SW and save money, so this thread IS very OS!!!
Pigpen, sorry you felt bad about eating a bit more, it happens to all, look to the future!
MrsM Thanks for the encouragement, I shall use this thread only as support once I have used up the SW tokens! Good luck with your impending weigh-in.
Taplady, well done on your weight loss, nearly there now! Go Girl!
Kittyscarlett, thankyou for the great tips about healthy snacks, Marigold bouillon is a staple in my household, I buy 2-3 tubs of 1kg everytime I do a bulk buy shopping!
Orpheus and pigpen, thank you for taking up the issue of this thread, I am with you all the way (but pigpen, knitting needn't be expensive, even if you buy expensive yarn, think how long it takes to make a jumper, and what good quality, fun and satisfaction - it is really worth it!)
Frogga, good to see you again!
RanitaR, thank you for the indication about the competition, I have entered it now and will every day until I win too (I hope!).
Beemuzed, well done on your daily loss!
Well done all losers, welcome all newbies and hey, let's rock!
Today I have been a bit despondent re. food, after yesterday's SW indifferent treatment I thought stuff it, and wasn't overly careful, but no disaster either (food details to follow).
Tomorrow I am having lunch out, provided by the training company where I am going for a course, then in the evening dinner out with DH and then pub (but no fear there, as I do not drink alcohol I shall only have water or tea).
On Saturday I am invited to a party in the evening where I know there will be Curry for dinner - I know because my friend is having the same caterers I had for my 50th birthday, after she tried them and loved their food so much!
So all these events might take me a bit off balance but what the heck, I shall survive and then get back into course, no doubt, with your support!
OK now for the daily food:
Breakfast: banana, blueberries and kiwi, chopped walnuts and yoghurt
Snack: a bite of cheese and mushroom toast from DS when out in London together (but resisted the cakes and any other food in Starbucks, am I good or wot!)
Lunch: miso soup and various sushi at Yo Sushi with DH, with the 50% discount vouchers, we ate like wolves (but healthy stuff!) and the total bill came to just over £15!!! Vouchers, dontcha love them?
Snack: 2 ryvitas with HM orange marmalade that my friend had just made and brought me 3 jars
Dinner: carrots, broccoli, mashed potatoes (no fat) and quorn sausages, with some gravy (ah well one does not live of bread alone hehe).
Goodnight folks, catch up tomorrow night! Sleep well and dream of your new slimline selves!
Before I go, I just wanted to add: if crisps disappeared from the planet tomorrow, I would not even notice!
CaterinaFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
I made this soup today and it was really lovely. I just put three chopped carrots, 3 chopped celery sticks, 2 small chopped onions, 2 chopped leeks, half a tub of olives (chopped), two tins of tomatoes, half a savoy cabbage, shredded, 1litre of veg stock (made with Kallo cubes), dried italian seasoning, black pepper and a bay leaf in a large pan, brought to the boil and simmered for about 40 minutes, then I added 150g macaroni, a tin of drained cannelini beans, a big glug of tomato ketchup, a tsp or so of marmite and cooked it for another 30 minutes. This made 5 large portions and I had one at lunchtime sprinkled with a bit of parmesan and 3 Dutch crispbake thingies. It was nice and really tasty.
Otherwise today I have had:
Breakfast - cup of decaff coffee made with skimmed milk and a Go Ahead cereal bar.
lunch - soup wtih Dutch crispbakes, followed by a fat free vanilla Activia
snack - slice of bread and low fat spread, apple
dinner - hm tuna pasta salad with sweetcorn, half a banana and some tinned in juice fruit cocktail.
snack - 3 Dutch crispbakes with extra light Philadelphia.
Well done to all the losers and good luck to Mrs M for tomorrow's weigh in!Jane
