cheerfulness - congratulations on your anniversary - its our 20th in March too!
Gilly - thanks for some good tips on portion control!:T I too am sure that I eat far too much compared to most of you:o from looking at your food diaries. I had HM lentil and tomato soup for lunch with a slice of white bread:eek: was about to eat my brown bread when I realised it had gone mouldy! got another loaf from the freezer, I hate wasting food so will try and only defrost what i actually need from now on.
I am going to do DSs paper round now - think I need to work off the delicious piece of coffee cake i ate at the WI this morning!:D
See you all later!:wave:Do what you love :happyhear0 -
Just heard back from Gingham about having a weekly weight loss thread. Unfortunatly it's a "no go" as it is not strictly a money saving thread. Never mind it's not Ginghams fault so better not moan at her please
Not moaning- just a bit confused - is flylady thread money saving then?working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -

thats a shame! thought it was a good idea myself!Do what you love :happyhear0 -
I have great looking legs for a 57 year old.
Tend to wear trousers though as my too ample bust/waist/tum/bum make me look like a lollipop0 -

When I get a new loaf I bag them up into 2 slice and 4 slice "portions" and freeze them. That way I'm less likely to waste any - unless I don't have enough room in the freezer like last week
Also means I have to think about how many slices of toast I'm gonna have when I take them out the freezerworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -

Evening ladies
Dinner is under way.... Hm sausages with onion gravy, yorkies, carrots, broccoli and marrowfats... mmmmmmmmm
Decided to make todays bread dough into cobs rather than a loaf..just an experiment as i figure that if i do one batch a week then that will be hubbies soup bread sorted.. i can freeze it up and then thats out of the way and i can just make a loaf at weekends...ok perhaps one mid weekThey are in the oven and looking quite yummy... the sesame seeds and poppy seeds are what got me
..still ..will convince myself that if i eat one (not even out of the oven yet:rotfl: ) then i won't have 5 days worth for hubby -thats assuming huby doesn't snaffle some later whilst im sitting with next doors little one for an hour  ..and bids on how many will be left when i get in at 7pm???:rotfl: oh and before i stop rambling about bread..the cobs work out at 2p each :rotfl:
Anyway -back to normal service....helloooooo everyone
I had 1 slice of HM bread with low fat cream cheese for lunch and an apple - wasn't overly hungry... but am getting ready for my dinner
Shame about not having the weekly thread -would have made it much easier on those that can't visit as often and get overwhelmed by the number of posts... still anyway folks we have been doing allright as we are ..so onwards and upwards :T
Cheap date -glad you are back from the hospital,, hope little one is okand well done on fending off the devil that is "the vending machine" :j
Saversarn.... just think of all that time filled up by x stitch rather than trips to the kitchen :rotfl: .. my mum does cae decorating and she is brilliant.. i had a go at making sugar roses ages ago -but they were closer to cabbages than roses
well just a quick one from me for now -will pop back later this evening if i get time.... keep up the good work everyone-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
I'll try hard for 7lbs off by St Val's day! No kids :T - no biscuits/sweets/bread in the house - Quorn is good for low-fat, high-taste, but so many low-fat things like l-f yoghurt or l-f cottage cheese are low-flavour too, so I'd rather just have less of the ones with flavour. Lots of raw veg/apples, soy milk, herb tea & water, & using a smaller dinner plate! Sometimes hunger makes me feel insecure! But I can eat plenty carrots/apples/celery & drink water/herb tea to fill the belly. Makes a lot of difference to take the high/medium fat foods out of use.0

Not moaning- just a bit confused - is flylady thread money saving then?
To mention one point first, the Flylady I am writing about in here is the one we do on the OS board, this is quite different to the one which is on an American website. We don't encourage or discourage members to use that website, buy the books/goods from there etc.
As far as is the thread money saving, I believe so, for the following reasons, aswell as others- The work we do would cost a fortune if you had a cleaner, some have used it then stopped a cleaning service they used. I had the numbers of several cleaning and ironing companies I was ready to call, when I found Flylady, I didn't need them
- Keeping things clean like dishwasher/washing machine/vacuum cleaner etc filters prolongs the life of them, I was told by a qualified engineer that on average maintained appliances last twice as long as those which are not. Vacuuming regularly and taking care of cleaning tasks before they become disgusting can save in a replacement of an item.
Am I the only person who will admit having to replace something which if I'd taken care of it, probably would have lasted longer.
- If someone has an issue with cleaning anything we will try to offer solutions which won't cost a lot of money (or the earth) and will hopefully save the item.
- If someone is looking to buy something most will offer suggestions on where to buy it cheaper, what discounts are available etc
- Decluttering rooms has made some people quite a lot of money by selling the items, some have just managed to find things they thought were lost which saves them the cost of replacement
- Some have used it to help them clear a room/space so they can have paying lodgers in their home
- Safety - accidents/fires cause injury, illness and can cost money with time off work, therapy, childcare, replacing things etc. There are several parts every week encouraging people to keep in mind safety in the home such as clearing stairs, checking fire alarms etc
- Time is money, if you can do what we do it frees up time for more productive things like work, making money elsewhere etc
- Jobs done include reorganising fridges, freezers, meal planning, keeping paperwork organised (including dealing with items urgently, I could have had a large fine this week if I haddn't done a paperwork sorting session and found something I didn't know was there) looking for lost items (like library books for example) which all can save people money
- A clean home will always make you feel better, therefore improving your outlook on life, becoming more organised etc. Also reduces the need for shopping, eating etc for comfort as some have mentioned when you feel better about yourself.
- Being a more organised person in general is great for money saving, flylady has helped a lot of people become more organised in their lives in general, many have taken the principals of it into their work place.
- Cleaning can help you get fit
make time for yourself to help yourself relax, get fit etc. I'd rather vacuum than run on a treadmill, at least I am achieving something aswell as just getting fitter.
Housework and looking after the home/family must be the lowest paid, unthanked job, we're just trying to make it a little easier.
Permission, yes, was given by the moderating team to run a weekly thread on the OS board, the permission was given to Moggins to do so then when Moggins sadly has been unable to continue, I offered to help.
SORRY THAT WAS SLIGHTLY OFF TOPIC MODERATORS, JUST ANSWERING A QUESTION
I'm not saying either that I don't believe that this thread is money saving, I've saved the faddy stupid weightloss club fees for a start off.
Weight loss, well I still haven't weighed myself yet but my jeans are falling offsuppose that's a good sign, time for a belt rather than replacing them just yet. Stll having breakfast every day. Portion sizes are still coming down because as we have started thinking about how much we are eating, not wanting to feel overfull etc we are eating less. I even got my partner to try a salad
he cringed a little, but he did eat some. For a man who's only ever eaten sweetcorn, peas and carrots (and those were occasionally) I think it's great.
One day I might be more organised...........

i all
had a bit of a bad day today and had a small galaxy and a twix:eek: but its just as small blip and I am already back on track. Was totally shattered after my day at work yesterday and was so tired today so I needed a pick me up and the only things on offer were chocolate.
So today I had
Breakfast: Toast and peanut butter (2 slices)
snack: twix
lunch: jacket pot and cheese and salad
snack: small galaxy
dinner: chicken enchiladas
Not going to have anything else this evening but am going to do a wee drop ironing and then x-stitch a mother's day card to keep me out of trouble - yep I am a cross stitcher too. have got so many projects to finish its untrue so I am making a start with this one and then pick one out to do a month and hopefully build up a small collection of cards to give away.
tomorrow's meals I haven't quite decided on so will go and have a look in the freezer for some inspiration.
Taplady this was the recipie from wend33 re the tomato and lentil soup (I had copied it from the last thread)
Tomato and Red Lentil Soup.
½ ONION
2 MEDIUM CARROTS
1 TBSP OIL
150g RED SPLIT LENTILS
400g TIN TOMATOES
1 LITRE VEGETABLE STOCK
1 TBSP TOMATO PUREE
JUICE OF ½ LEMON (OR LESS TO TASTE)
PEEL AND ROUGHLY CHOP ONION AND CARROTS AND SAUTE THEM IN A LARGE SAUCEPAN (WITH THE OIL!) UNTIL LIGHTLY COLOURED (ABOUT 5 MINUTES)
STIR IN THE LENTILS, THEN ADD TOMATOES, VEG STOCK AND TOMATO PUREE. BRING TO THE BOIL AND THEN SIMMER FOR 35-40 MINUTES UNTIL THE LENTILS ARE SOFT.
BLEND SOUP WITH A HAND BLENDER.
ADD LEMON JUICE TO TASTE
You can make this using Tesco value ingredients or expensive ones - the choice is yours (and I can't tell the difference!)0
