Just kidding - glad you had a good day frogga - hope it continues
Tipping down with rain here - debating whether to do my lunch time walk or notWill wait and see what it's like nearer lunch time I suppose.
Breakfast was porridge with stewed apples and sultanas. Added some ground almonds in which made a bit of a change.
Lunch is jacket and beans.
Tea is ham omelette - well more like a frittata thing really
Snacks are dried figs, tiny piece of fruity flapjack and maybe an apple if OH doesn't eat them all
Pigpen - my sister used to get that with the shakes when she cut down on sugar and went to the Dr's about it. Apparently if you usually have high sugar intake and then reduce it, your body does react a bit like as if you have low blood sugar but was told to reduce gradually and she should get used to it. She found she was better if she had protein for breakfast - summat to do with slow sugar release or somethingso she'd have scrambled eggs on wholemeal toast or bacon or something

Morning everyone
Back from shopping -so thats 1hr 20 mins exercise crossed off for me :j , and need to go to a different one tomorrow as the bits i want will cost me about €5 less in ALDI..so more walking there too :T
First of allto Orpheus...for such a lovely encouraging post..thanks for that :T ...im the "cabbage steamer" by the way :rotfl: . Glad you are doing well, don't forget to share any tips you have..all gratefully received on here you know
.
Taplady.. it amazes me that so many places still only offer the likes of -veggie lasagne, canneloni, cauli cheese etc...... there is so much choice of ingredients out there... that was what used to bug me when i was veggie -when i was vegan i expected to not eat out.. but veggie food has so many alternatives. Hope the IBS calms down so you can enjoy you couple of days off:D , ok just spotted Mr Tappy is poorly too ..... hope he is better soon too..... if he wants a bed bath -don't forget to use iced water-he will be out of bed in no time :rotfl:
Rockie4... New cookery books  .......
Frogga.. I wasn't ignoring you [STRIKE]request[/STRIKE]... sorry demand for "something nice about me" I was mearly trying to narrow it down from the very long list :rotfl:
hhhhmm actually i came up with I like my green eyes... and my hair because it grows really quickly.. oh and i have nice nails (rarely polish them though as im always in the kitchen and it makes my skin crawl to see folks cooking with painted nails:o )-unfortunately they are attatched to "pork sausage podgy fists":rotfl: which isn't such a bad thing as i have hands like my lovely dad -so when i look at my fingers i always think of him... and the podgy fists might explain how, when im typing my post loads of others sneak in ....but then again that could be because i ramble so much
Pigpen...yumyumyum -batenberg mmmmmm marzipan mmmmmm ..ok someone distract me...
Caterina..... the seeds aren't my faultwhere ever i go they are selling them... even in the supermarket today ...racks n racks of them
-i didn't get any -honest... although i may if i have enough room
well they had rainbow swiss chard and i would really like to try it
. Just think though, once they start cropping we will have no reason not to stick to our weight loss plans :A . thing is im not much better with x stitch threads n kits either..although im now working through my back log
Well i had my weetabix before i went shopping this morning
lunch will probably be crisp breads with low fat cream cheese
and for dinner im doing the last of the HM sausages with yorkies and veggies -no potatoes, partly because we will have enough carbs with the yorky and partly because i wouldn't pay and extra €1 for the bag this morning :rotfl: ...
well i had better get off and give mum a ring.. talk to you all later.. have a great day everyone
Hello to anyone i haven't mentioned-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
Hi everyone,
Feeling a bit queasy this morning. It's the first time this year that I've had that 'food hangover' feeling when I woke up.
Actually, didn't really overeat excessively last night but had a few handfuls of nuts and raisins and they don't seem to have agreed with me.
Think I need to keep the eating simple today and just hope I'm not going down with the dreadful tummy bug.
Orpheus - the paragraph that you wrote about what you think this thread achieves was spot on in my opinion. And pigpen's suggestion of a weekly thread would be brilliant. Hope it comes off.
I have to say that I'm in a bit of a quandary. I've been reading some of the meal plans that have been posted and it's obvious that I'm eating much more than many of you. In fact, I've been panic stricken when I've seen some of the small amounts. Beginning to realise that my portions must be much more excessive than I thought because I can't imagine being able to get through the day on what some are managing.
Frankly, I'm a little glum. The thought of reducing my food that much is bringing me out in a cold sweat.
Don't want to be a mishog this early in the game so need to come up with some filling meals that aren't going to blow the weightloss.
The cabbage idea seems a good one, love sweet cabbage in particular.
Anymore ideas? Not hit the skids yet and want to be prepared so I don't.
Oh and MrsM, you'll lose that pound, no worries. I see Froggas leaping forward to.
Well, FIL and step MIL have just left and brought DH and I an anniversay present for tomorrow. Will open that tonight when DH gets in. It's reminded me that I haven't got his card yet, will make one this afternoon. Can't believe I forgot, it's our 20th. When did I get so unromantic. Will have to change that this year, me thinks. :rolleyes:MAY GROCERY CHALLENGE £0/ £250

Aha ! you didn't think you could get rid of me all that easily, could you, couldjooooooo ! Bwahaha !
Ok so, now flu is over, new PC new broadband and yipeee new thread ! I have suggested before maybe a daily or weekly thread to supplement the main OS weightloss thread so we can be chatty and not have one big unwieldy thread, I really hope the admins take that one up
One positive thing about me ? Boobs ! I wouldnt mind losing a bit of weight from them but I like them anyway even if they do give me backache and nightmares with bra buying !
I can't say I've been all that good or evil. Not lost loads of weight, not put it on. Am steadily working my way through my freezer ( Butts Farm meat ) and am very happy with it. Bought " Eating for Victory " which along with the Marguerite Patten books is an inspiration for frugal healthy eating - have been making up loads of hm coleslaw after reading it ! Have just broken my fast with a big double handful of grapes and intend to follow that with a couple of boiled eggs, some bread, a big glass of milk followed by some orange juice. Mid afternoon will be hm veg soup made from leftover veggies and dinner will be hm potato wedges in the oven, cold meat and salad. I am going to do my best not to buy crisps or chocolate but I don't know if I will suceed !
Hope everyone is ok
Hugs to all

Nice to see you back Kittyscarlett :j
Cheerfulness4.... Don't get downi had to do something about my portions..i was eating a pea more than a pig :rotfl:
Im sure we can come up with loads of tips... At one time, the thought of eating the portions that you see on the TV would have made me scream with laughter... now im actually fine with it. Little tiny steps are the way to go...
Here are some of the things I do -hope some of them help:-
If im doing a roast dinner i do 1 kind of potato, so no more having roasties and mash/steamed ... and then won't do say stuffing or yorkies.... i see it as a trade off..like tonight im doing yorkies with HM sausages and plenty of veg and onion gravy.... but i won't do potatoes as i will get plenty of carbs from the yorkie and peas..
and sometimes i do chicken with HM stuffing and loads of veg -but no potatoes
If you do something like mash you can shove loads of swede in there so you still can have a decent portion but with less cals.....
or sometimes i do shepherds pies but with mashed carrot and swede on top and then have my potatoes on the side..it really can make a difference -especially if you roast them
when it warms up -sugar free jelly is a good "fill in" inbetween meals if you get snacky
What i did to start with was to concentrate on reducing the main part and carb part of my meals... but increased the veg so i still got a good platefull - roasting veggies is a good alternative to usual steamed veg and more satisfying too
I always put out a "sensible" portion and tell myself that, if 30mins after eating im still hungry then i can have something else... its very rare i have to..
Don't let your portions put you off.... just try and trim a little off at a time (even just 1 potato less for a few weeks etc) and you will soon adjust... where as if you suddenly drop you portions by loads you will just end up hungry and heading for the fridge...
just another thought ... what about making some veg based soups and having a bowl or mug about 30 mins before your main meal? ..there will be next to no points in it and will help fill you up before you get to the "good stuff" at dinner:D
Chin up ..you know you can do this...
Gilly ..woohoooo ..well done to you.... :j-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
Some of you probably already do this, but thought it might help those who are new to weight loss
Use a smaller plate, looks more and does work
Boiled rice - cook less but add peas and sweetcorn
Boiled rice - again cook less and if having with a Chinese style meal in the last couple of minutes add beansprouts and let them steam in the heat of the rice
Pasta and rice - cook in a flavoured stock cube - when dishing up make a hole in the middle and put curry, chilli etc in the hole. Still looks the same, but less carbs and calories
Curries - I always make two, one mainly meat and one all veg. Have a portion of each so that you are getting a variety and do the hole trick as above
Mash - half potato and swede or half potato and cauliflower
HTH

Gilly - atta girl. You did so well! :T :T
MrsMc - some really good pointers there. Hadn't thought about topping shepherds with something different from potato. Have loads of carrots and swede blanched in freezer, too.
I do the trade off with carbs, ie tatties or pastry etc, and don't even notice and love my veggie soup. I'm thinking that eves are my danger time so the soup could come into play well then.
I think I've just got to keep reminding myself that food is not a way to entertain myself.I also think that I've got to get that negative fear out of my head that, 'i've lost 2 weeks running, but it's gonna all go wrong soon."
Argghhhh and I suppose none of this negativity that seems to suddenly be gripping me is because I know the gas bill will be due in any moment. Debts and dieting, drive me insane. I shut up now.MAY GROCERY CHALLENGE £0/ £250
