yes it makes my biro last years (as i liberated it from argos, so cheaper still.)

and my kids are called by the same name, so bithday cards get used 3 times a year, this one has been going for 3 years now, 9 uses, and was 10p in a bargain bin. also, sent each one an xmas card in there first year, reused them ever since.

do i come accross as tight??

    A joke to make amends.

woman goes to get her child benefit from post office
the clerk says how many kids have you got?
"10" says the woman "all boys"
"what are they called?" says the clerk
"Tyrone" replies the woman "all 10 of them"
"How on earth do you call them in for their tea?"
    asked the clerk
"Easy" says the woman "Just shout Tyrone they all turn up"
"and what if you just want one in?" asked the clerk
"oh" said the woman" i just shout their surname"

I do quite a lot of these tips already-I think I inherited it from my Mum.

Here's some more though not mentioned as yet:

Use those socks that you can't darn anymore as dusters. You can put your hand inside and pick ornaments etc up to dust(instead of knocking them over because you cant be bothered to move them)

Then just pop them in the washing machine-no extra wash for those bright yellow dusters then!

Go to library to read newspapers/magazines etc instead of purchasing them

Stand bottles of shampoo/tomato ketchup/washing up liquid etc upside down as they get near the end to get the last dregs-same with toothpaste tube-cut it open you will be suprised how much is still left in it.

More when I think of them

if you wrap an elastic band around the pump on handwash etc
the pump doesn't go as far down, you don't dispense as much and product lasts twice as long

So the li'l uns get a GIANT colouring book - use a roll of wallpaper lining paper, on the table or floor.

A wet afternoon of silence, is easily obtained & they'll have fun, all joining in drawing a HUGE picture.

I used to work for a really frugal woman, who had a gadget that gets attached to the bottom of the toothpaste tube to squeeze even the last bit. Looks a bit like a key to open a sardine tin.

Does anyone know this gadget and where to get it? The woman was from New Zealand so maybe she brought it from there.

If I can find one of those in the UK I want to buy it (or maybe I ought to try and improvise one from a sardine tin key!).

Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
