I don't know how useful this will be as todays kids are fussy about what they wear. When my boys were small (in the late 60's early 70's) I used to buy them new jeans at the start of the winter and by the time summer came round and they were getting a bit short and raggety around the bottom I shortened them to wear as shorts (could be crops today). At the beginning of summer I bought them new all white t-shirts which could all be boiled washed together and by winter they finished them off as vests under school shirts as an extra layer.Mortgage and Debt free but need to increase savings pot. :think:0

RE duvet covers - my 'best' cover is white pintucked, which goes with every thing! I hate changing , washing and especially ironing king sized duvet covers, so I always use a sheet under the duvet cover.
This means I only change the sheet each week, for 3-4 wks. This not only saves time and energy but also means my best covers aren't washed to death. With coloured/patterned covers they don't fade so quickly with washing and drying either.
It also means my bedroom stays colour co-ordinated most of the time too0 -
I did the cut down jeans thing with my kids in the 80's and 90's. It was a really good way of extending the life of jeans once they'd got holes in the knees or were a favourite pair that had been grown out of.0

That reminds me of something my nan used to do. She would save the inner bags from cereal packets. Some of them were cut into circles to use on her jams, and the others she would use as food bags.
Doesn't everybody do this?? I also use butter/margarine paper to grease tins when baking

My mum put me onto this a while back...the same cereal packet innerds used to wrap up cake. It's particularly good for the HM fruit variety & way better than just foil or a tin their own.
My three offspring are now grown with their own money, but if some coinage is left loose around the house it gets put into The Pot--currently one of those huge bottles you see on water fountains in offices. As it fills, we make a list of things we would like that would be of use to all of us...the last yield almost paid for an all-singing all-dancing printer jobbie:pFull time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.
