When I make soup in advance (usually lentil and root veg, but I am sure it would work with other soups too) I heat it till it is boiling rapidly, then I switch off the heat - there is enough heat to cook it so that it needs a max. of about 5 minutes on the hob (usually less) when you are going to eat it. It saves a good 10 minutes of gas/electricity. I use gas but I think it would work even better with an electric hob.0

Changing the subject a bit, but I have just thought of saving an empty shampoo bottle, the type with a screw-on cap with a dispensing slot is best, so that when I see reduced-to-clear toiletry items that are reduced because the cap is broken (generally the reason), I can decant the contents into my spare bottle. The one I finished this morning has stuck-on labels too, not printed, so I can just soak them off.
My local Sainsbury has a shelf of damaged goods, and there are often shampoos, conditioners, bubble baths etc. with smashed tops. I've never bought these as I didn't know how to get around the broken cap problem, but will do so in future. The savings are often up to half price.I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

Great idea BB, I've found now that the kidz shower themselves the design of the bottle determins how quick we get through shampoo, conditioner, shower gel etc. Some just pour too fast and the kidz use more than they need so I save 'good' bottles that restrict the flow of product and decant from 'evil' bottles that tip out too much.Life's a beach!
